Re: Haggen files bankruptcy

I vacillate between nefarious motive and sheer incompetence. The fact they sold some of the properties out from under the stores immediately raises questions. What happened to that $? But it has nearly destroyed Haggen name and Comvest is not smelling like a rose. When they're losing 25 million in ...

Re: Haggen to close, liquidate 100 more stores

Well, I know that H-E-B has several formats ranging from upscale to downscale, from small (30k former Pantry stores) to huge (100k grocery-only), so maybe the Vons name could just expand out to cover most of everyone. Arguably, Haggen's "We're like Whole Foods meets Safeway" attitude led ...

Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway

Really not sure about Florida, but the Eastern Seaboard stores definitely aren't getting milk from across the country, it's outsourced. Perhaps they just need to go to a different supplier. For all the combined stores Albertsons has in the Northeast now (between former A&P stores, ACME, S...

Plenti is a cross-retailer rewards card, it includes ExxonMobil, Macy's, and some car rentals.

Re: McDonalds Shake Fries

Remember, the McDLT was also a "DIY assembly" item too, requiring customers to actually put together parts of the burger themselves...

Can't see it lasting long, though...I still remember the Fish McNuggets back in spring 2013. That was a fun item.

Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway

I actually think some of the private label programs in place at Albertsons (Equaline, Wild Harvest specifically) probably should have been kept... Safeway's brands are not "all that" despite being fairly heavily pushed. Safeway's brands pissed people off before in places like IL, TX, PA.....

Re: Albertsons Store Numbers (and what they mean)

They did not acquire any Lucky Stores in AZ. The 9xxx were all drug region stores under Albertsons and I think they did renumber some or all of drug region. 7xxx was the failed NorCal Division (except the Reno, Sparks, Carson City, and Winnemucca, NV Stores which were switched to NorCal from Interm...

Re: Clearwater, FL Albertsons Closing May 28

It was my understanding for a while the FL Stores were being supplied by Supervalu somewhere as independents. They were selling Flavorite rather than Albertsons brand back before the Essential Everyday rollout across all of Supervalu's independents/corporate stores. Now I look at the FL Albertsons ...

Re: Safeway to renovate Moon Valley store in Phoenix

I didn't realize that Vons and Pavilions homogenized so much. Makes sense tho as the "Flagship" name for the Texas division became meaningless under Safeway. And maybe "downscale" isn't the word to use for FM. On topic, has anyone been inside this store since they started renovat...
