Re: Albertsons continues to disappear from WA

2 more Albertsons in WA converted to Safeway in the past week: Snohomish and Tumwater. Stop the madness, ACI!! If the Snohomish (Clearview) store you're referring to is the one on Highway 9 it's technically a Snohomish address, but it's much closer to Woodinville than Snohomish, and as far as I'm a...

Re: Albertsons continues to disappear from WA

Curiously enough, there is a new remodel Albertsons here in Renton on Sunset Blvd. It has the Safeway faux wood grain floors. But the signage is NOT "Colorful Lifestyle" or "Florida". Previously it had the LLC decor from when LLC bought the SVU Albertsons in 2013. It also strang...

Re: Albertsons continues to disappear from WA

The SavOn name still had a lot of value for the first ten years or so after selling to CVS. The SavOn and Thrifty brands were iconic in Southern California for many many years. Putting the Sav-on name on most of their stores, especially in areas that had no Sav-on stores (not for years, at least) w...

Re: Target Closing 2 Small Stores in the San Francisco Bay Area

Pick-up makes it easy to return stuff rather than boxing it up, etc., so it's cheaper for Target and the customer. It's also easier for stuff that's likely to leak, get broken, etc. than shipping. One of the hassles of delivery is theft and clueless Amazon people delivering to the wrong address. An...

Re: Albertsons opens new store in El Paso

Store opened a few days ago (eight locations in the city, wow).

It looks like they have same circular checkstand things like they did in stores of old?

Re: Albertsons opens new store in El Paso

It looks somewhat similar to the Safeway that opened up in Mesa, AZ in November 2019 (I believe it's Albertsons / Safeway's newest Arizona store). https://goo.gl/maps/wfc12dBPhQtJ75Uo6 I'm surprised that El Paso wasn't moved to United like most of the New Mexico stores. I think it's still logistics...

Re: Albertsons opens new store in El Paso

The Sav-on name was used for dual-branding in El Paso. In that case, I doubt it will, as a store nearby (Montwood, former Smith's/Rainbow) got it's Sav-on sign taken down recently. Albertsons did buy Jewel-Osco stores in El Paso in 1992 (these stores were previously Skaggs-Alpha Beta) The Jewel-Osc...

Re: Target Closing 2 Small Stores in the San Francisco Bay Area

I think they really blew it with trying to rebrand CityTarget, et. al. as just Target, because the brand, once known for consistent stores (usually around 100k square feet, give or take 20k) is now pushing out these tiny stores and stores that are less-tiny (a 70k-ish one squeezed into a former supe...

Re: Albertsons continues to disappear from WA

Worth noting that they didn't do the club card in Florida when they converted those stores, but then again, Florida was always a weird market for post-Safeway Albertsons. The Pueblo Albertsons on Prairie Avenue in Colorado that closed a few years back (the one that was a former Food Maxx and had un...
