Re: Winchester/Front Royal: Martin's Monopoly?

Ever since Shop n' Save ended their efforts in these markets as part of SuperValu's ongoing grocery consolidation, it seems as if Martin's is now the only traditional grocery store across the Winchester market. There are Walmarts, Aldis, and other independents that comprise options in this market, ...

Re: Wegmans cancels plans for a store in NC

How is Food Lion now? They've remodeled a plenty of stores and they still seem to be quite autonomous from Ahold chains. I have not noticed any changes with Food Lion besides updating stores with new décor. Food Lion continues to lag behind other Ahold Delhaize USA banners Giant Company (Carlisle, ...

Re: Pep Boys - out of the parts biz?

New Pep Boys locations that have opened in recent years are automotive service centers. Its store locations for selling parts are few in number, and are not enough to compete with Advance Auto Parts, Auto Zone, O'Reilly Auto Parts, and NAPA.

Re: Wegmans cancels plans for a store in NC

The RDU area is my home market so I can probably give a little insight as to what I’m seeing in the past couple of years: - Publix has been here for a little under seven years, but has around eight stores; There is another one confirmed for a part of Wake County that isn’t served by Harris Teeter (...

Re: Wegmans cancels plans for a store in NC

Sounds like they've been working on this location for 4 years, according to the story, and the market has become increasingly competitive (LIDL, Aldi, etc etc) with even more competitors since then. Grocery retailers in the Raleigh-Durham-Cary combined statistical area: Hypermarket: SuperTarget, Wa...

Re: Older Publix stores still operating?

Another older store that has remained untouched from the exterior is Publix #91 , 1045 Dade Boulevard, Miami Beach, Florida 33139-1509. Publix 91 is considered the last "wing" store as the center front of the store has wings. It's interesting that they have another newer store just four b...

Re: Older Publix stores still operating?

I have heard the oldest store remaining in operation is Publix #50 , Southdale Shopping Center, 828 Southern Boulevard, West Palm Beach, Florida 33405-2530. Publix #50 has expanded throughout its existence. Another older store that has remained untouched from the exterior is Publix #91 , 1045 Dade B...

Re: Kroger Covington, TN "sold" to Cash Saver operator

Kroger's Delta Division should be preparing for Publix's western expansion into western Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kentucky. Where Kroger exits, Publix enters. Is Publix seriously expanding into Arkansas, Kentucky, and even Missouri? I think Publix built distribution that could...
