Re: H Mart opening two Downtown Seattle locations

If the H Mart in Chicago's West Loop is any indication, the stores will be pretty fancy. The West Loop is more analogous to South Lake Union than it is to Pike Place Market. We will see. There is something different with the H Marts in OR/WA/CO/British Columbia compared to the rest of the chain. Th...

Re: Kroger and creepy PA Announcements

This evening I went to Fry's for the first time in a couple of months. As soon as I walked in the creepy "top of the hour conditioning" announcement came on. That's old news by now, but the brand-new weirdly annoying thing is at the self checkout. The voice that announces prices and reminds you to p...

Re: Tabletop tablets in chain restaurants

I've seen the tablets at Chili's and Outback. At Chili's, I ordered from the server but when it came time to pay he directed me to the tablet. I tried looking at the menu on the tablet but the screens were poorly-designed so I used the printed menu. At Outback, the server took my order and handled p...

Re: Fred's Pharmacy closing 185 locations

The only surprise is it took this long.

I guess they thought buying the castoffs from the failed Walgreens/Rite Aid merger would improve their results, but to me that was doubtful.

Re: Is the end near at Sears?

Clemmons NC (which is on the closing list) yesterday. I hadn't been in this store in about ten years. My favorite is the "patient consultation area" in the pharmacy, which is closed on evenings weekends, of course. But hey, they're still hiring... My favorite pic is the one about transitioning the ...

Re: Kroger to outsource Drug Dept. to Walgreens in Knoxville, TN Market

There are rumors that Kroger may make a deal with Walgreens similar to Target's deal with CVS. Essentially sell the Pharmacy operations to Walgreens.... That's very interesting because Kroger operates its own PBM . ...However that still doesn't explain Walgreens HBA products in Kroger stores. When ...

Re: J.C. Penney hires former Shopko executive to aid turnaround

Heard a brief bit on the news this morning, that JCPenney is considering selling used clothing in its stores through thredUP, a resale website. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/penney-fiscal-2q-earnings-snapshot-113609998.html I wonder if their lease agreements will allow for this. Typically malls do...

Re: Stater Bros. new visual identity

Up until a few years ago, the Costa Mesa store sported the old logo on the building. I'd like to see the new logo on that store.

Re: Stater Bros. new visual identity

I like this new logo, but I have to question what is the point of changing the logo? Is it really worth the cost? It is tough to do a logo change across all of the buildings, items, signs, uniforms, receipts, labels, stickers in the stores, etc. When you are running two different logos, it looks sl...
