Re: Westfield announces UTC San Diego Mall Expansion

I was wondering if/when the Nordstrom site repurposing would start. It doesn't surprise me that the former Sears is fully (or near-fully) leased. The mall is so busy that vacancies don't remain vacancies for very long. UTC is an absolutely beautiful mall. My favorite, TBH. Even before the renovation...

Re: Express files for bankruptcy, plans to close nearly 100 stores as investor group looks to save the brand

Until recently, I didn't know they were still in business. I guess it was former sister chain The Limited that shut down in favor of he brand being sold exclusively at Belk.

Re: Phoenix grocery market share 2023: Fry’s gains share, Walmart share drops

I expect Wal Mart's store growth program to help them in Phoenix. Fry's has kept up well with new stores and a few new Safeways have opened too. When did the last Wal Mart open? Unfortunately, they have quite a few stores that are absolute dogs. During their next round of remodels they need to do m...

Re: Hy-Vee buying Strack & Van Til

Wow - didn't see that coming. Are Chicago-area stores next? Hy-Vee would be a much better fit for Chicagoland Krobertson's cast-off Mariano's than C&S.

Last month they announced an agreement to open twenty locations in and around Phoenix, so California is the next logical expansion.

Re: Macys Stores Closing by 2026

... Someone had mentioned they thought they would consolidate South Coast Plaza which I doubted. Drove by today and both of the Macy's buildings have just received very large and expensive looking brand new signage with giant red stars and a custom "The Men's Store" sign. These are probab...

Re: 99 cents only calls it quits

Like so many stores, 99 cents only used to be a fun place to shop. Stores were clean and it was like going on a treasure hunt. Within the last ten years, the stores became a little messier and the "finds" were fewer and farther between. Recently, their stores were downright messy and anyth...

They had (or maybe still have) a line of uncured, all-beef hot dogs that weren't bad. I switched to the Whole Foods brand and never looked back.

PS: Skip the Applegate Farms all-beef hot dogs. They are pretty bad.

It's not just malls in America. It is a worldwide problem. Take a gander at the dead malls subreddit and you will see.
