Re: The Fall of Third Street Promenade
The parking situation was terrible. Even when garage spaces were available, the line to get out of the garages were too damn long. I like to walk, so on visits from San Diego I'd park several blocks north and hoof it. Not everyone wants to do that. Even eight and nine years ago, before the crime be...

Re: Official: Red Lobster files Chapter 11
Let me rephrase: Darden Corp. used to have restaurants with Darden on the FRONT outside. Do they still have restaurants named Darden? Not according to their website. Their only brands are: Olive Garden Longhorn Yard House Ruth's Chris Capital Grille Cheddar's Seasons 52 Eddie V's Bahama Breeze It i...

Re: 99 CENT ONLY closing
Dollar Tree opened up inside an abandoned Walgreens in Dublin, California not too long ago. The store still looks like a Walgreens. The floor is a Walgreens floor and they even kept the Walgreens mirrors all around the store near the ceilings. The pharmacy was turned into a break room for employees...

Re: Self Check Outs
Murrieta Ralphs will be getting a second self-checkout area by fall - doubling their self-checkout stations. This is the third Ralphs in the area, following Menifee which has 12 self-checkout stations and Temecula which has 11 including two with conveyer belts, to get additional ones. So Kroger is ...

Re: Official: Red Lobster files Chapter 11
Yard House isn't bad but I could take it or leave it- but that is a strong concept, very popular. Bahama Breeze I used to know someone who really liked that chain, and I agree it was pretty good. I think that BB unit in Las Vegas did close some years back or maybe it did manage to survive; it never...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
i feel like norcal is pretty much toast and needs to be divested at this point, socal may be salvageable, rite aid serves a lot farming communities that dates back to the days of thrifty where the competition never touched for a long time and is still strong on the central coast. maybe with washing...

Re: Amazon Fresh, take 2
I went last weekend to the Amazon Fresh in Paramus, NJ. (It was remarkably terrible and completely empty. There was one cashier with no line.) I'd estimate the majority of the storebrand items are Amazon Fresh, but some are Happy Belly, which is the brand I remember seeing in the past. Is the Amazo...

Re: Official: Red Lobster files Chapter 11
Darden has famously degraded its acquisitions. Red Lobster's heyday was under General Mills---Darden sold them because they were an underperformer. They tried saving money by combining RL and Olive Garden kitchens, which makes no sense. Longhorn was much better under its original ownership. Darden'...

Re: Target Lowers Prices on 5,000 Items for the Summer
The bigger problem I see is if you keep throwing $10 off $50, $5 off $25, $5 off $30, $5 off $15, grocery, offers, this makes me think your prices must be high and that is why you are doing this every week... that isn't exactly accurate but their pricing isn't great. Better than Safeway of course, ...
