Re: Target Lowers Prices on 5,000 Items for the Summer
Target threw another "food and grocery" $5 off $30 coupon. Their food pricing is terrible and I actually see what seem like price increases this week compared to last week... Using the coupon got their prices about down to Wal Mart levels, at best, but I think I still ended up paying more...

Re: Los Angeles' The Last Bookstore
Considering Barnes & Noble is their largest growth spurt in two decades and trying to acquire leases large and small, I would say that bookstores are alive and will at the small and large levels, just evolving. The bookstores that are closing didn't evolve with the rest of the industry. There is...

Re: 99 CENT ONLY closing
Would a 99 Cent Only Stores run by Dollar Tree be an improvement? Here's what I'm thinking: Dollar Tree doesn't have any plans to " operate 99 Cents Only" beyond keeping stores open in a transition period while they remodel, like Aldi/Winn-Dixie. I have my doubts these stores will offer p...

Re: Frys Signature Marketplace-Tatum/Shea- Remodel
I checked this out yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised about how good the store looked. This is the first time I've seen that reclaimed barnwood decor look good in a store. I'm glad they didn't remove some of the nicer decorative elements, such as the live trees in the store. This decor looks m...

Re: Fashion Valley San Diego JCPenney to be booted for apartments
San Diego does not have a real housing shortage, they have the worst short term rental issue in the country and do nothing about it. Their rules state nobody can operate more than one, but they have people who buy entire reasonably affordable apartment complexes and issue eviction notices to every u...

Re: 99 CENT ONLY closing
Docket 694- Dollar Tree purchases hundreds of leases and all intellectual property This docket has 112 leases and all intellectual property. The 112 leases in Docket 694- it says Dollar Tree agreed to purchase "shelving" in those stores for $1,724,767. It appears they are paying $115,000 ...

Re: Official: Red Lobster files Chapter 11
It has nothing to do with the shrimp. Ridiculous media interpretation trying to distract from the real issue the private equity rape of the chain. Must have assigned the politics reporters to this story. Tying up contracts has a lot to do with these things, in this case, Red Lobster's majority owne...

Re: Ahold Delhaize Strategy Day
Most of the afternoon was not particularly substantive. I gather, though, that they are preparing for more Stop & Shop closures, potentially a large number: "We've completed the overall portfolio assessment [of Stop & Shop]. We won't share the exact number of impacts on those stores to...

Re: Self Check Outs
The Ralphs I suspect was a store program that was not corporate authorized as signs were store made. But the Albertsons was definitely a corporate sign package for the self checkout. It was the pair type back to back, and the back units facing the Starbucks were closed. The two open ones faced the ...

Re: Ahold Delhaize Strategy Day
I'm on the Strategy Day call now. There's currently a discussion of the European brands, which I am not paying close attention to. However, JJ Fleeman, the CEO of the US division, spoke giving a high-level overview of the strategy for the US stores. Nothing too surprising for most of it: 85% of Aho...
