Re: Official: Red Lobster files Chapter 11
Red Lobster's days became numbered when Darden spun them off. They were already dwindling, and quality has gone downhill. Last time I was in one was a couple of years ago in Baton Rouge, which somehow stayed open through this. On a Saturday night in one of the busiest areas of the state, the entire...

Re: Dom's and Foxtrot Closed, Chapter 7 BK
Interesting post-mortem on the bankruptcy. A co-founder was the successful bidder for the assets. The banker took their offer which essentially shutout employees, suppliers, etc. who were planning to sue. https://slate.com/business/2024/05/foxtrot-venture-capital-businesses-bankruptcy-creditors-pay...

Re: Target Lowers Prices on 5,000 Items for the Summer
You can upload photos to Flickr and then post a link. The photos will show up. Target seems to love the peg board. Many of the walls are painted gray now. It seems very dull and colorless. I walked through a SuperTarget yesterday to look more closely. They have been in the middle of resetting all o...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
FTC takes its first L in the case. Not sure how this is going to affect anything. https://news.bloomberglaw.com/antitrust/ftc-loses-bid-to-compel-docs-in-kroger-albertsons-deal-challenge A motion denied without prejudice is not a loss, it's just a procedural error. They can make the same motion aft...

Re: Self Check Outs
It seems that almost overnight there has become a massive movement in these stores to self regulate around a 15 item limit. I wonder if they are going to fight the proposed law by claiming they're already limiting items and increasing supervision. The law idea is stupid and outrageous, and if passed...

Re: Target Lowers Prices on 5,000 Items for the Summer
I think Target is a nicer environment to shop in, even if it costs a little more than Walmart. https://flic.kr/p/2pQg7X9 I agree ;) Are picture uploads working again if I don't use the phone for them? I could randomly point my phone around that Walmart and take ten pictures that would make your jaw...

Re: Alternative Retail
Great question. I wondered the same thing myself then remembered I wasn't wearing my glasses when I typed it. Was supposed to be in department stores because of the reuse of the old Sears being the main operation.

Re: Fred Meyer 2018 remodel not aging well
Last night I was at the Longview Fred Meyer for a regular shopping trip. This store was remodeled in 2018, and as I shopped, I was thinking that it does not seem to be aging well. The wall colors and the rounded font of the letters were ugly then and are ugly now. The floors have lost the shine the...

Re: New Albertsons Interior Southern California
So the Unions now allow 3 hour shifts? That's weird and plainly WRONG! I was shocked when I first heard it directly from an Albertsons employee standing next to me and talking to a cashier (who was totally ignoring me the customer as he rang up my transaction) that they were scheduled by "the ...

Re: Official: Red Lobster files Chapter 11
Perhaps some opportunities for independent restaurants to back fill these spaces. But I am thinking at this point a lot of these spaces may not be in the best locations or be the best condition based on the age of many of the units. Independents would want a restaurant that is mostly ready for busi...
