Re: Target to discontinue physical media?
Have the likes of Netflix, Apple Music, Xbox/Playstation stores finally been able to supplant DVDs, CDs, and physical video games in entirety? For all intents and purposes, yes. If Best Buy couldn't hang onto physical media, why would Target be any different? CD's? What are those? Movies? I probabl...

Target to discontinue physical media?
Just a rumor, but it seems we have yet another major player inching towards leaving physical media behind, and at the end of the year. https://twitter.com/PhysicalMedia_/status/1780688163243164136 Have the likes of Netflix, Apple Music, Xbox/Playstation stores finally been able to supplant DVDs, CDs...

Re: Wegmans Woes in North Carolina
I have no basis for comparison between DC and NC Harris Teeter stores, but within NC they have a fair bit of upscale competition in stores that focus heavily on perimeter departments like Publix, Fresh Market and some of the newer Lowes stores (plus the handful of Wegmans stores in the Triangle.) I...

https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/charlotte-is-getting-its-first-wegmans/BJEGHBZVTNEVRDHPB6R6ITY4V4/ It appears that Wegman's is giving expansion in North Carolina another go, as they have just announced what will be their first store in Charlotte. This will be located in the south part of Charlott...

Re: Stores that never were: Sacramento edition
Speaking of Elk Grove, the southern Walmart was initially planned as a Target. Walmart, however, stuck with the planned Target shell through construction, hence why it looks a lot like one.

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers
Interestingly to note, of the four locations (re)opened by Shoppers in Southern Maryland last year, there is no word on the Waldorf location shuttering. Perhaps it met profitability measures (being in a larger suburban area) or has generally better reviews than the St. Mary's County bunch that are c...

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers
My impression of St. Mary's is that it's growing but that the incomes are pretty disparate, depending on the town. The economy depends a lot on a Navy base and regional tourism, as well as retirees. Retired people, even if they're well-off, tend to be price conscious and if you add-in people in sea...

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers
I don't know this area at all. Is this an area Safeway would want these stores in? Looks like they're not in that area, and they bought two Shoppers stores a couple years ago. But those were both in the Baltimore/DC area and that's quite a distance away, and I don't know that Safeway would want mor...

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers
From the online reviews I saw, these locations were frequently criticized for their high prices. Perhaps geography may also be a challenge, or the renovations were more than what they could bite off.storewanderer wrote: ↑April 2nd, 2024, 9:25 pm What a joke...

Re: Grocery Outlet Mid-Atlantic Expansion
I do wonder how Grocery Outlet can pull such an expansion so far from home and in strong Aldi/Lidl territory, though I wish them good luck. Lidl is under construction in Centreville, VA. The new Hyattsville store was a PriceRite and before that a longstanding Giant, of which Queen Elizabeth II visit...
