Re: 2022: 10 Kmart, 23 Sears stores remain...

Looks like the Bridgehampton Kmart has lost its signature blue sign and a cheap banner has gone up instead. This could mean multiple things, whether it is being mended, if store closing is near or TransformCo simply does not want to care for it.

Re: Walmart Downsizing Stores?

This is happening to another store I know that remodeled less than three years ago. I honestly think retailers really need to keep track of when their stores are last remodeled, because it can turn out to be a waste of money and set them back next time the renovation cycle arrives.

Re: Amazon Halts All New Amazon Fresh Just Walk Out Stores

He Pasadena (CA) store (with Just Walk Out) opened last Thursday. It's located in a former OSH and was under development for over a year. This is as Amazon tries to attain a certain number of openings per quarter, and as it takes time for them to set up "Just Walk Out" technology - all wh...

Re: Wegman's Ends Self-checkout Due To Theft

Wegmans changed out a lot of self-checkout machines when this app went online, so I don't know how much worth that had.

Re: Gap Displays Clothing In Trash Bags

What an interesting "grab bag" type deal, at least it saves time. Though I heard Kanye has parted ways with Adidas, as well as Gap recently to take his Yeezy brand independent?

Re: Stop & Shop closures

Also in Virginia I would have looked more at the Route 29 corridor and perhaps re-entering Richmond. I wonder what would have happened if Giant-MD got the Hannaford stores in Richmond instead of Kroger. Another wildcard in all of this was that Sainsbury (the British grocer) had a significant, but n...

Re: Stop & Shop closures

If Giant-MD is any indication, perhaps Ahold is culling out the low performing, older Stop and Shop locations. Also, locations that have high rent. Down here in Northern Virginia Ahold has renovated, relocated or closed the older, outdated Giant-MD locations. I can't think of a Giant-MD location th...

Re: Walmart Downsizing Stores?

Mediocre for Walmart to completely cut out certain departments and dedicate a decent chunk of the salesfloor to online pickup. I mean sure, a dedicated area is necessary for such an operation (and in today's retail world), but does anyone think it'll attain enough volume to serve its purpose? I'm no...

Re: Meijer mid-size concept coming to suburban Detroit

I don't expect Kroger to enter St. Louis. They have a couple stores at far edges (Rolla and some other...), closed one real old store not too long ago too. I don't think that Kroger Division that would encompass St. Louis has opened any new stores in quite some time, but they have closed a number o...

Re: Meijer mid-size concept coming to suburban Detroit

Warrenton,Sikeston, Cape J.,Washington,Colum.bia and so on before Rolla,Jefferson City and so on. Gerbes would do good in St. Louis. Kroger In other parts of MO on 44. Ramey Price Cutter in other parts of MO. I honestly think Kroger would be the better brand choice in STL. Brand familiarity from th...
