Re: Digital Coupons
The whole card thing has caused me to shift a lot of shopping to WinCo where they don't have all these gimmicks. If only WinCo could get their random out of stock issues under control and offer better dairy and produce so I could avoid Fred Meyer altogether.... WinCo does offer digital manufacturer...

Re: Do malls/shopping centers require current logo sign updates?
I also remember several different logos for both Meier & Frank and The Bon Marche, and both were inconsistent in updating building signage, as well as inconsistent updates to both Sears & Kmart before they started to do massive closings. I can see to a point where the owner of a mall/shoppi...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: Northwest, Rockies, & Alaska Impact
I would not be surprised if Kroger could sell off three or four of these owned sites in both the Portland market and Seattle market for redevelopment and net a billion dollars cash - and probably could get at least a modern Safeway size store into the replacement developments similar to the Queen A...

Re: KFC Debuts Chicken Nuggets
From some of the old newspaper research I did while I lived there I know there was a Kentucky Roast Beef location in Downtown Bellevue WA for a brief time in the mid to late 1960s, based on the descriptions in the paper it sounds like it was basically an Arby's clone. In Seattle, the Ivar's at 135t...

Re: Bartell discussion (specific) from Seattle Times
I think you're right- the inside probably hadn't been touched since the late 90's. Around 2010, Bartell #1 expanded into the adjacent corner storefront that had been a Coldstone Creamery. It was remodeled out of the late '90s decor at that time. They added a beer and wine section, expanded the conv...

Re: Rite Aid to Bartell Conversion
I wonder if they are consolidating an existing Bartell into this location. The University Place Bartell is about a mile to the southwest. It is across the street from a Walgreens that does far more business, so it's possible. An Indigo Urgent Care just moved into an adjacent storefront, though, so ...

Rite Aid to Bartell Conversion
In passing the James Center Rite Aid in Tacoma, I noticed the exterior signage had been taken down and there were a couple of yellow and black banners out front. One said "Appearances can be deceiving" and the other said something like "We're building a new pharmacy for you." The...

They've also submitted plans to move in to the old Safeway site at Highland Hill in Tacoma since mid-2020 but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere yet.

Re: B. Dalton Bookseller resurrected
As for B. Dalton, I thought they were the better of the two mall-based bookstore chains, but they seemed to not have as many locations. I can't say I ever saw one outside of a mall though. In the early '80s, B. Dalton had two stores in downtown Seattle: Fourth & Pine by Bartell's "triangle...

Re: Albertsons continues to disappear from WA
Albertsons should keep their name in Kitsap County and Spokane. They have done much better in those areas, investing heavily there in the early 2000's. I wouldn't say that about Kitsap... there are six Safeways but only three Albertsons. The Poulsbo Albertsons (an old blue and gray interior store) ...
