Re: Save A Lot Sells All Stores

Forgot this chain even existed. Given the rapid expansion with Aldi, Grocery Outlet, what are they doing...? This format is on fire and they don't seem to be riding the wave. Not exactly on fire, if the Lidl thread means anything, but they have some problems, like worn out stores and they probably ...

Re: Shell to buy Western Canada Sobeys gas operations

Shell brand has gotten somewhat anemic. They've always been high priced and a lack of a consistent convenience store program seems to be hurting them. Their loyalty card program is not bad but since their pricing is high it sort of is useless. I used to see Chevron as the strongest gas brand out we...

Re: Pet Friendly Stores

The problem is that all three chains have the majority of their stores in California Not really--I only looked at JoAnn. but the DC/Baltimore area has almost as many as LA County (probably similar populations). JoAnn got their start in the Cleveland area and expanded from there, so there are plenty...

Re: Kohl's To Open 100 Small Format Stores

Well, Costco has no navigation signs either... same exact idea as Hobby Lobby. Major things like pharmacy or optical are signed (just like fabric and framing are signed at Hobby Lobby). So I guess the same criticism applies to Costco? Sam's Club always had much better navigation signage. Maybe that...

Re: Regal Cinemas parent Cineworld to file for bankruptcy

It seems many of the closing locations were renegotiated and saved. Others that weren't on the closure list were abruptly sold off. Foothill Ranch Regal 22 was just transferred to Cinemark. That was a Regal build before they acquired their competitor Edwards Cinema in the California market. Edwards...

Re: Kroger Switches Store To Self Checkout in Greater Nashville

These are both high end locations. I used to shop at the Hillsboro store on occasion. I'm guessing that both stores have customers who won't like this at all and will take advantage of other stores in the area that don't have this set-up.

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

I didn't realize they closed the DTLA location till I passed by it yesterday. That was probably one of their oldest locations going back to the Thrifty days. It's a great location but It was probably a closed because of high theft. The Walgreens across the street has had big problems with theft whe...

Re: Kroger to merge with Albertsons?

Population and development aren't simple correlations. In places with little growth or population decline, you'll see areas with vitality and new development and areas without, as well as places that continually renew themselves. I'm sitting in Cleveland, where parts of the city are in decline and o...
