Re: Sonic Fried Cookie Dough Bites & Broccoli Cheddar Tots

And, yet, fried cookie dough bites remain a heart attack in a take out container.

Re: Amazon Halts All New Amazon Fresh Just Walk Out Stores

The last time I saw baggers was at a Heinen's (higher end, service oriented chain in Cleveland & Chicago) and they don't always have them and the ones they do have float. At a store like Giant or Safeway--probably not since the Bronze Age. Even at Whole Foods, not always and now, none at all. Th...

Re: Amazon Halts All New Amazon Fresh Just Walk Out Stores

The article is about roll-out in the UK, not the US. I couldn't find any reference to any change in status of the program in the US. The pic in the article, though, is a US store in 14th Street NW in DC. They'll be opening another one less than a mile from that store soon.

Re: Red Robin adds Donato's pizza to the menu

The upscale burger cycle seems over. Adding pizza to a burger place's menu might be a good thing, but adding Food Court pizza probably isn't a good idea.

Beyond whatever mechanics they roll out for making drinks, the whole thing sounds like a new CEO setting down a mark and trying to make shareholders happy. The cold drinks probably are more iced coffee than fraps esp during morning periods—not much to change there. The employee benefits are an obvi...

Re: Wegman's Ends Self-checkout Due To Theft

I’ve very rarely seen anyone use these things anywhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if Wegmans was being disingenuous about the reason—-the business press is better Than it used to be but it still lets large successful businesses say whatever without fact checking. Blaming stuff on shoplifting is easier...

Re: Stop & Shop closures

Costco does do local tailoring and there is usually a sprinkling of local brands (Great Lakes beer in Ohio) and products (the obligatory Old Bay seasoning in the DC-Baltimore area. To backtrack a bit, Giant-Landover’s calling card in the pre-Ahold days was bakery-deli. The meat and produce were forg...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

Perhaps there were so few customers that the review count was extremely low. Does the location seem like it is in a bad neighborhood? It is in a smaller exurban town in rural Ohio. That location is an older and smaller store opened at least three decades ago and as early as the 80's.I don't recall w...
