Re: San Clemente Albertsons converting to Pavilions
Speaking of Pavilions. (I don't know if this was posted somewhere else on the site), but it looks like they have finished the conversion of the Monecito Vons to a Pavilions.

Re: Amazon Halts All New Amazon Fresh Just Walk Out Stores
I completely agree, but I think it depends on the location. Also, the technology is probably proprietary and they wouldn't want anyone else to install it. In a suburban strip mall location for a 48k sq/ft store I agree the costs outweigh the expense. However from a co-tenancy perspective, both Amazo...

Re: Amazon Halts All New Amazon Fresh Just Walk Out Stores
Typically for a Whole Foods, and presumably Amazon Fresh, the landlord would provide a gray shell perhaps with RTUs and a specification for power and water requirements. They would build out their own space, but the Landlord would provide a ton of tenant improvement allowance money to build out the ...

Re: BBB in Chapter 11
Are all the BBB stores closed/closing now? I visited my parents in California this week and noticed that the local BBB had a store closing banner on it. Interesting since it looked like it had recently been remodeled and new exterior signs installed. Also interesting is that the store was a former S...

Re: Costa Mesa/Newport Beach Ralphs loses Fresh Fare branding
All the older build Pavilions from the 80's and 90's have produce in center store along with deli and bakery, with meat and seafood behind that. The newer stores have a more traditional Safeway type layout with produce on one end and bakery/deli at the other end. The produce room is sandwiched betwe...

Re: La Jolla Vons to be converted to Pavilions
I think it has had the Fresh Fare branding on it for at least the past 15 years. In the early 00's it did not have the Fresh Fare branding. Feels like one of the few bright spots for Ralphs around San Diego over the years. I know there are some other good stores too but far more closures than there...

Re: Save Mart adds Bob Miller to Board
Kroger knows there will be few to no qualified buyers. That is why they are proposing to set up SpinCo. SpinCo eliminates the need for qualified buyers, because Albertsons and SpinCo will initially have common ownership and obviously that ownership is more concerned about the merger going through t...

Re: Pak N Save Madera closing 1/14
The Safeway's in Fresno were sold prior to the sale of the southern California Safeways to Vons in 1988. This averted any FTC issues as there were already Vons in Fresno at that date and the Safeway's that were in Fresno were substandard as you point out. Safeway still had 3 stores in Fresno in app...

I agree. The Ralphs's is actually not that close to the Pavilions in La Jolla....but the Pavilions has a much better location.

Re: Kroger to merge with Albertsons?
From krogeralbertsons.com "With Walmart and Amazon as competitors, it’s understandable that traditional grocery stores need to scale up to stay competitive. Critics see this as one less competitor in the market, but if Kroger and Albertsons are prevented from merging and go out of business beca...
