Re: Kroger will also sell Haggen banner to C&S
I think this is worthy of its own thread given the baggage surrounding the Haggen name. Somehow I missed this before, but it is in the official release: "Under the amended agreement, Kroger will also sell the Haggen banner to C&S. " So they are dumping off the QFC, Haggen, and Mariano...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Again, though, these lists tend to be a few years out of date, and I don't appreciate you calling me a liar because you undershot the number of Vons stores in 1997 by over 100. But I digress. In terms of the merger, with C&S getting the rights to the Albertsons name in a few parts of the country...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Who compiled the list? It was the LECs (Local Exchange Carriers)for the phone companies. Remember the Safeway SoCal division, at the end, included SanDiego, Las Vegas, and the entire central valley and coast of California. If you are suggesting the list I provided is wrong I have the initial list f...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Awful take. There aren't "so many options for groceries". Oh wow! Customers can just go to the dollar store instead! Yeah, no. What's next, considering 7-Eleven a competitor? Imagine if American Stores had tried to argue something similar in the 1980s when they bought Lucky. Also, as far a...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Just my opinion, but judging from history, my opinion of this merger has changed 180 degrees. I think the merger should be allowed to go through with the amount of divestitures Kroger/Albertsons currently want. C&S may not fail as bad as the Haagan debacle, but it will fail. The simple answer i...

Re: Self Check Outs
The problem is that employees feel that they are being replaced by self checkout machines. If companies feel that they save money with self checkout, then they will install self checkout. If studies show that there is a large amount of shrink, then companies may get rid of self checkout. Let the co...
