Re: Publix entering Louisville, KY in 2023
That's all well and good buckguy, but they declined and Kroger didn't. Dozens of them declined Kroger has it going on. People have choices. Kroger had Cub, Giant Eagle, Food Town, Big Bear, A&P, Fazio's, Food Town, Winn-Dixie, Fresh Encounter, Cook United, Marsh, National, Scott's and Colonial t...

Re: Rumor: EG Group for Sale
EG's thing was supposedly "brands". They like to leverage major brands to generate traffic and they don't seem to be doing that in the United States. They are Esso's largest retailer in the UK/EU. If I'm EG, I would make a deal with Exxon to start putting up Esso signs whereever they can. ...

Re: Publix entering Louisville, KY in 2023
"6. Why all the negging on Kroger? They are considered the best in the industry and deservedly so. Kroger's store fleet might be mixed but that's what happens when you are the incumbent retailer. You can't replace all 3,000 stores at once." Respectfully may I respond>>>>>> They are freque...

Re: Publix entering Louisville, KY in 2023
Comments: 1. In Atlanta, Kroger maintained their market share. Publix's share came from A&P, W-D, Big Star and others. If Kroger can hold on in an upscale city like Atlanta, it'll have no problem in Nashville and Louisville. In other words, Kroger knows how to compete against Publix. 2. Yes, Ken...

Re: Kum & Go to enter Utah; 30 stores slated for SLC
Kum & Go is okay, but there is nothing special about them. I bought gas at one of their newer stores late at night and bought a chicken wrap from the cooler. It was awful. I don't think there's anything special about Casey's either, but their Pizza is pretty good. That's there signature item. Ot...

Re: Arco- Marathon?
I'm curious why there haven't been any news stories about their use of the Arco brand. You would think they would at least want one of the convenience store magazines to do a profile about two brands now being available to get the word out. I'm also curious about what they are doing in the upper mid...

Re: Marathon to acquire Andeavor (Tesoro)
I have no idea why the Arco brand is being introduced in ND/MN. I understand those Arcos accept credit cards too. Tesoro has always seemed to be very insecure with its legacy brands. I always thought both Tesoro and Mirastar had nice imaging and colors. After 9-11 they did a lot of marketing about ...

Re: BP to bring back the Amoco gas brand.
-Marathon was also a Standard Company (The Ohio Oil Co.)
-Arco was partially a Standard Company (The Atlantic part of Arco)
-Amoco was an east coast thing. Maybe it was big in Chicago, but most of the rest of the Midwest was more fond of "Standard" and Sohio.

Re: Kroger May Sell Off Its Convenience Store Chains, Including Kwik Shop, Tom Thumb, Turkey Hill
EG is going with "EG America" on the Minit Mart stores. I don't know how that sounds ... Honey, I'm going down to the Circle K for some milk. "EG America" just isn't snappy-sounding enough. Exxon, if they were smart, would use them as a vehicle to reintroduce Esso to the USA. EG ...
