Re: Is 2021 finally the end for Sears/Kmart?

I still have my old Kmart Rewards card and it has the Mygofer logo on it, along with Lands End I think. I always thought Mygofer was a weird name, sounds like it's either talking about a Golf shop or a gopher or gopher tortoise. LOL

Re: McDonald's franchisees want a better chicken sandwich

I always thought the McChicken was fine for $1. I did like Burger King's chicken sandwiches on the long rolls, except they tended to be somewhat greasy at least from the one here. Not sure if they still offer those. I have also had their round sandwiches that came with their cheap meals and they wer...

Re: Maverik to enter California

There is a gas station out near me that's been branded as Spur ever since I can remember. I don't know of any others around in existence so it is interesting to find one out here randomly. It only dates back to about 1990 though.

Re: Starbucks in malls?

When I drive by Starbucks locations with drive throughs I constantly see cars lined up at the drive throughs. I am really surprised but in Reno people have kept going to Starbucks as if nothing is happening. I know of people who work from home and drive to Starbucks in the morning and buy a drink t...

Re: Maverik to enter California

Interesting. All the Walmart gas stations around here are under the Murphy brand either in the Walmart parking lot or in an adjacent property. There's no convenience store but just a booth with a window where you can pay and buy drinks, snacks, motor oil, etc.

Re: Belk

Heard Belk is losing Lancome cosmetics counters and possibly some of the other service cosmetics brands. Wouldn't surprise me. Belk always had an emphasis on service cosmetics and I would tend to expect that to be one of the first things to go. They are clearly just about down the drain at this poi...

Re: Dead/Dying Malls in Your Area and Predictions

Department stores like JCPenney and Belk used to offer full hard lines in most of their stores back 40-50 years ago. I don't remember it still being a thing even in the 90s. They do have departments like that but the selection is small and probably not competitive with places like Walmart. JCPenney'...

Re: Starbucks in malls?

My local mall had a Starbucks from about 2004-2007 when a new drive thru location was built. I don't remember if the two ever operated concurrently or if it closed just after the new one was opened.

Re: McDonalds and re-opening inside

The QSRs are going to a new store design that emphasizes eating out, not eating in....drive thru, take out, delivery services like Doordash (with dedicated lanes), with limited indoor seating. Fewer employees, easier to keep sanitized, easier to heat and cool. That trend was beginning pre-virus, al...

Re: McDonalds and re-opening inside

There are a few McDonalds with inside reopened in my area in NV (35% dine in capacity limit now I think it is) but most are closed entirely and drive through only still. All business and capacity related restrictions in NV will be lifted by May 1. These fast food businesses better get back to busin...
