Re: Potential multiple takeover bids for Kohl's

I think Amazon could purchase Kohls and convert them into pick up, return and distribution centers while carrying a small amount of inventory and be successful. These stores could turn around and potentially sell the returned merchandise for a smaller markdown and avoid a lot of the distribution cha...

Re: Amazon closing all Amazon Books, 4 Star stores

I found the Amazon bookstore in Nashville not long after it opened during a visit and thought it was okay, nothing to get excited about but not bad. I did purchase something but it wasn't a "have to" stop during future visits. The 4 star plus store I visited in Atlanta during the summer of...

Re: B. Dalton Bookseller resurrected

I don't know that I ever saw a B.Dalton bookstore during my youth but remember Waldenbooks well and loved Borders. B&N has treaded water for years now and appears to have no momentum while independent booksellers, at least the older established ones, seem to be doing decent business. I try to pa...

Re: Closed drive-up tellers?

As a former bank employee I can tell you the drive thru is a blessing or curse depending on your perspective. Banks have been as understaffed as any retail operation for many years way since leaders ran skeleton crews as more people were going to ATM, online, and later mobile transactions. I underst...

Re: Bed Bath and Beyond closing stores just remodeled

The Perimeter Center West BBB in Dunwoody/Atlanta is in a great location and a large store. That closure surprises me a little but I suspect the rent is high and the space could be too large for what the future of BBB could be.

Re: Macy's Closing 10 Stores in January 2022

[quote=buckguy post_id=34217 time=1641391174 user_id=2908 For many years, Macy's Northlake outside of Atlanta looked liked it hadn't been touched since before the Federated merger. The decor, the stained carpets, the haphazard arrangement of some departments all reeked of the past and an uncertain f...

Re: Macy's Neighborhood Store Watch

It's shocking Macy's hasn't pulled the plug on Gwinnett Place but it likely will soon as the mall was purchased by the county government. It could become some new development or transform into a county services building.

Re: Atlanta Disco Kroger to Close

Word is the Kroger is going to be replaced by Publix at the center. There are already several Publix locations close by and Kroger has less of a presence in Buckhead directly but of course there are some relatively close by. I no longer live in Atlanta after living there for several years but the Bu...

Re: Macy's 2021: 45 locations to close by the Summer

I predicted a couple of weeks ago on a different thread here the Macy's in Collierville, TN, would not survive. The Memphis area currently has three and when the first rumblings of store closings were announced a couple of years ago I wondered if two of them would survive. The Collierville store is ...

Re: Macy’s 2020

The Macy's in Collierville, TN, just outside Memphis, is a large store that has been built in the last 20 years. I don't think I've ever seen it very busy and a visit last Christmas (pre Covid times) made me wonder if it will survive. It's on the "neighborhood store" list and carries very ...
