Westfield sold Santa Anita (Arcadia, CA) for $538 million to an undisclosed commercial real estate firm. The rumor is that Rick Caruso, the owner of Americana at Brand was the purchaser.
If that is the going rate for Santa Anita, I can only imagine what they’ll get for Valley Fair or Century City.

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
EnvisionRX was founded by Kevin Nagle, a native Sacramentan who now is a big investor in Sacramento sports teams among other things after selling to Rite Aid. This is their old HQ being put up for lease, I’d imagine they went 100% remote / downsized.

Re: Winco Silverdale, WA - Sears Conversion
The Winco at Country Club Mall in Sacramento is setup somewhat similarly. You can enter/exit at all times via the parking lot, however this door just leads to a funnel that brings you to the mall entrance. The signage encourages customers to enter through the parking lot (through the funnel) and exi...

Re: Universal CityWalk Adds Curfew
Universal Studios Orlando has enacted a curfew for people under 18. People under 18 are required to depart by 9 PM unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian, are staying at a Universal Hotel(need a hotel key card), or seeing a movie Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays. This is due to the entir...

Portland and Seattle had a very late/wet winter so they’re harvesting a little late this year. There aren’t as many as usual but you should start to see them show up shortly.

Pleasanton Lucky
I had not been to the Las Positas Lucky in a few years, but visited it recently. The remodel they did on that store is extraordinary. It has a completely new layout and exterior and has all the bells and whistles. It also blows the Lucky Dublin or Redding Save Mart(both new build stores) out of the ...

Re: Trader Joe's in Seattle (Capitol Hill) stops selling liquor due to theft
I have not paid much attention, does Trader Joe's do strong sales of hard liquor? I notice quite a bit of wine purchasing taking place when I shop in Trader Joe's and some beer but haven't noticed hard liquor quite as much. I am surprised they did not try some other strategies, or maybe they alread...

Update on the new SSF store, now not opening until 2024 but we have renderings. https://sfyimby.com/2022/08/meeting-today-for-mixed-use-180-el-camino-real-in-south-san-francisco-san-mateo-county.html It is interesting that they are doing the “parking underneath” model versus the “parking above” mode...
