Amazon Fresh coming to Sacramento (Citrus Heights)
Saw in the Sac Business Journal today that a new grocer is coming to Citrus Heights. It is pretty obvious this grocer is Amazon Fresh with the renderings. I think this is a pretty strong location. Not an extremely wealthy area, but densely populated and convenient for deliveries to wealthier areas. ...

Re: Foods Co Closing Bakersfield, CA- Rosedale Hwy
FoodsCo strikes me as a group of stores that Kroger doesn't particularly want, but the rent is cheap and the volume is high, so they hold on to them. Vallerta was probably willing to pay a bit more than Kroger. I'd imagine with the prices FoodsCo charges and the overhead they have to pay for armed s...

Re: Sears/Kmart: Will 2020 be the end?
I think either Walmart or Target would want it. It's a very good location that even does fairly well during the summer. This is probably a longshot, but I could see Raleys wanting to get out of their aging and awkward store that is adjacent. This would be a good opportunity for them to replace one ...

Re: Dead/Dying Malls in Your Area and Predictions
I thought they are trying to do. If they can go the mixed use route they need to get a grocery operator in there Arden itself is not going the mixed use route at this time, however the former hotel right beyond Sears is currently being developed into 737 market rate apartments. https://skkdevelopme...

Re: Dead/Dying Malls in Your Area and Predictions
My analysis of Northern California malls I am familiar with - Sacramento Area Galleria at Roseville - This is a really strong mall with a good tenant mix of fast fashion and upscale tenants. It has some vacancies but a good mix of tenants lined up to fill many of them. It will be interesting to see ...

Draeger’s San Mateo Potentially Closing
https://www.smdailyjournal.com/news/local/big-changes-for-draeger-s/article_c398e964-27b9-11eb-8e6d-e7cdfb6c7d5c.html Saw this in the paper today. Doesn’t seem like Draegers is 100% confident they’ll return. Especially with such a downsize. Maybe Mollie Stones could make that work, but with two Trad...

Re: Safeway opening four new stores in NorCal this year
The sad part is that there are virtually no other chains that want to open up supermarkets in Safeway's Northern California territory. Lucky and Raley's are not opening new stores. Sprouts and Whole Foods are also not opening anything. Safeway is everywhere and has too much market share. There is n...

Raley's sells Aisle1
https://www.raleys.com/news/raleys-enters-a-deal-to-sell-aisle-1-to-fellow-family-business/ Raley's has sold Aisle1 (their gas & convenience store chain) to Anabi Oil to fuel "significant growth and expansion." Although the terms of the sale weren't disclosed, these stores were pretty ...

Camp Fire Destruction
I'm sure many of you saw the devastating fire that continues to burn in the Butte County area outside of Chico. According to CalFire, the town of Paradise is basically gone. Paradise was a surprisingly large city with about 30,000 people. An absolute tragedy and I'm sure as the sun shines on the cit...
