Re: Nordstrom Rack Rebranding & Expanding

I also do not think there is going to be enough traffic in Davis to support the store, but we will see. It will be a nice convenience for people in town looking for stuff that is a little bit better than the current available offer there. It may actually work out. I also don't think anyone in West ...

Re: Nordstrom Rack Rebranding & Expanding

The company is opening 5 new stores in California including one in Davis, California. I'm sorry but Davis is a middle of nowhere town surrounded by farmland. No one travels to Davis for shopping. The city smells like cows. https://chainstoreage.com/nordstrom-rack-rebrands-amid-expansion-here-are-ne...

Re: Whole Foods San Francisco Flagship Is Closing

Some media reports state the closure is "temporary." I see nothing from Whole Foods that affirms the closure as being temporary or for good, rather, just says it is closing. “We are closing our Trinity location only for the time being,” a Whole Foods spokesperson said in a statement. “If ...

Re: Bed Bath & Beyond: Dying?

In Roseville,CA they relocated Bed Bath and Beyond and World Market to be right next to each other (took over an old EXPO store). They then added a Buy Buy Baby on the end. The stores don’t have any sort of internal connection (at least on the front end) and I’m not sure what resources they did/stil...

Re: In-N-Out announces Eastern Expansion: Tennessee opens in 2026

I would imagine “office” is just corporate nomenclature. The Lathrop distribution center is referred to as an “Office” on Google but is mostly distribution. Their website refers to them as “satellite support centers”. The Lathrop distribution center is also about 100k sq ft so this would track.

Re: Safeway Portland- sectioning off high theft items/separate checkout

Yes it was directly adjacent to produce. Three rows of shelves total, one side is liquor/beer/wine and the other is cosmetics. Funny enough the only food in this section was beef jerky. They added permanent shelving at the rear of the aisles so you can only egress out the front. Two check stands at ...

Re: Safeway Portland- sectioning off high theft items/separate checkout

I saw this setup at the Safeway in Hercules, CA recently. I’m not sure if the store opened this way (very new store) or if they added it at a later date. As far as I could tell, there was no physical barrier or signage stopping someone from grabbing something in this section and going to the normal ...

Re: Macy’s 2020

I'd estimate in NorCal for instance (in addition to the store they already have in Stockton) they could fit one store in a mature part of Sacramento, 3 in the bay area (one in Marin County/Santa Rosa, one around San Jose, and one near San Francisco), and that is probably about it for NorCal as I do...

Re: Safeway Portland- sectioning off high theft items/separate checkout

As far as your comments on retailers- William Sonoma previously operated in Portland at 338 NW 23rd and closed that store in late 2021, about a mile from Brewery Block. So they are more returning to the area as opposed to expanding into the area. I also expect them to fail at Brewery Block but I gu...

Re: Safeway Portland- sectioning off high theft items/separate checkout

The two downtown Portland locations are fairly new (probably 15-ish years???) and I'm sure Safeway went through a long permitting process to get these built (mixed use buildings). I assume that Safeway has a lot invested in them. There aren't a lot of other true grocery options in the part of downt...
