Re: Stores & Riots
What's next, looting a Dollar Tree? The shopping area in Minneapolis that included the Lake Street Target also had a Dollar Tree, which was, indeed, also looted and set on fire along with almost every other store in the area. There's some footage from inside the Dollar Tree in the following video (...

Target's corporate website has an ongoing list of closed stores. They closed nearly all of their Minnesota stores on May 28 and 29th.

A good option would be for Cub to be sold piecemeal. Lunds/Byerlys could buy some stores in upper-middle income areas, Hy-Vee could buy a few stores as I stated above. Coborn's could buy some stores to make inroads into the TC metro (they bought Hornbacher's in Fargo). Coborn's would be a great fit...

Re: Coronavirus Fears and Empty Supermarkets
I went to Aldi for the first time in a month today. My local store (in Minnesota) has the design where the carts are kept outside the store next to the entrance. A man was stationed there with a bucket of disinfecting products. When you were done shopping, you returned your cart to him. I'd guess he...

Re: Coronavirus and Empty Restaurants
Virtually all research into the efficacy of hand dryers vs. paper towels in public restrooms is funded by either paper companies or dryer manufacturers. Unsurprisingly, each individual study tends to draw conclusions favorable to the industry that sponsored the research.

Re: Planet Fitness replacing multiple storefronts at mall
Planet Fitness entered my local market by moving into a nearby mall that lost an anchor following Bon-Ton's bankruptcy. However, the new Planet Fitness only moved into a portion of the available space and, unlike the old store, is only accessible from the mall's exterior.

Re: Sears Fears: The Final Days of Sears & Kmart, 2019
The ship has already sailed for Target in small towns for the most part. There may be some isolated locations where they are successful in little small towns of under 20,000 people but I can't think of any. There are nine communities of less than 20,000 people, and outside of a larger metro area, i...

Re: Macy’s To Close Downtown Seattle Store!
Macy's has been closing a lot of the downtown locations that weren't Macy's prior to 2005/2006. The Bon Marché is the latest victim, it seems, but they have done a lot of damage elsewhere. Here's a list of known closures of the old flagships. Foley's/Houston/2013 Famous-Barr/St. Louis/2013 Burdines...
