Re: Target Paid Membership Program?

They probably don't have contract growers up there and are buying from good local wholesalers. I'll take a picture of the new tiny 6 packs HD has contracted for, which include their own branded labeling. They more than double the number of packs per flat so you get tiny little root bound plants, or...

Re: Target Paid Membership Program?

Home Depot and Lowe's have decimated the nursery industry, and now they have horrible quality at horrible prices since they have a duopoly in many areas. There are still some chains left like Armstrong in SoCal but they have skewed to more premium quality plants that don't really compete with the o...

Re: JoAnn-"restructuring"

Unfortunately, due to being a slow news day, this Joann bankruptcy is getting a ton of news coverage. Probably not what they wanted or needed. There are too many ignorant customers who do not understand how bankruptcy works. They will think the chain is liquidating and stop shopping while they wait...

In the east, they do sell Hellmann's mayonnaise, alongside their own brand.

Re: Article: 'Target has a plan to take down Dollar General and Walmart'

Target also has a new enhanced food private label. It is called: Good & Gather SIGNATURE. So far I only saw this on shredded cheese. It appears to be a repackage of the old shredded cheese but the "thicker cut" versions are getting this SIGNATURE designation. That's not new, they've g...

Re: Target Self Checkout: Now 10 items or less

I'd rather have a basket only/no cart policy than a strict item limit.

Re: ALDI to add 70 new stores by next year

Except a Safeway will have a full service meat department bakery and deli and more name brand items (no one desires Aldi Cola or whatever it is). Well, I have a bottle of "Summit" Cola in my fridge right now  But Aldi sells 2 L Coke too, it's one of their few name brand products. Ne...

Re: ALDI to add 70 new stores by next year

From what I've seen, they're not necessarily assigning somebody to watch over the self-checkouts. In other words, the one person assigned to registers may be expected to run a traditional checkout plus monitor the self-checkouts and respond to any problems that arise. But, yeah, the traditional Aldi...

Re: ALDI to add 70 new stores by next year

Does Aldi not have self checkout? I think I saw one with it (but it was not open when I was in the store as I explicitly remember going to the cashier)... Maybe not. Circling back to this comment from a couple years ago, Aldi is now evidently going all-in on self-checkout, at least in the Midwest. ...
