Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
I am a bit more negative on the "old Stater" and think if it hadn't been for the big strike where Stater did the me too and wasn't struck, they would be out of business or have been sold. Stater was handed all that business along with labor from the competitors for months and they rose to...

The Food Club brand apparently has a new logo: https://foodclub.com/
I started noticing this on packaging for prepackaged deli meat at Stater Bros. in August.

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
My view is all plans are going forward for this merger to occur. Private label programs at both chains are starting to feel boring; not enough new items and not as much marketing on Kroger private label as I used to see. I am suspicious they are setting up to consolidate private labels in the merge...

Re: Wichita- a Kroger and Wal Mart only market
The Springfield exit was a mistake, and it was the result of a Hy-Vee opening in Springfield. They basically had a group of marginally performing stores, Hy-Vee opened across the street from one of them, and they ran out of there. They already had a newer store in Springfield from the late 90's the...

Re: Big Lots circling the drain: More closures, bankruptcy looms
Scattered around SoCal there are some really good quality locations of moderate size occupied by Big Lots. It will be interesting to see what those turn into. In some cases I wonder if their original tenants might want them back. Oceanside was a nice modern Ralphs that was closed in the Kroger earl...

Re: Safeway Remodels
All that has happened to the Albertsons is it got the linoleum removed a while back (not an improvement). They also removed the Sav-On sign as is typical although there is one off to the side. Maybe they were considering a closure of the Vons and wanted to upgrade the Albertsons a bit first? Or eve...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
More preposterous testimony with "facts" pulled out of... somewhere. To be fair I do believe that the Seattle customer heavily shops Costco above all other chains. But I don't believe for a second Walmart has a higher share of Seattle grocery business than Albertsons or Kroger. Nor do I b...

Re: Wichita- a Kroger and Wal Mart only market
I thought it would be interesting to make some comments on Wichita since this is a market that is literally only Kroger (Dillon) and Wal Mart. There are some Aldis spread around, and one Whole Foods. There are two AWG independents on the edges of Wichita (Leekers) rather far from any Dillons, and o...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Within SoCal, the Albertsons nameplate is a hodgepodge: Original Albertsons: 70s boxes, 80s/early 90s "Superstores", mid/late 90s stores with only one entrance, early 2000s "Plaza" (Grocery Palace) model stores, early/mid 2000s Jewel-Osco layout stores, and late 2000s Supervalu m...

msteph0819 The pictures you took of that DC store, that's the Pavilions interior, not the Market Street interior.
