Re: Albertson/Vons/Pavilions Pricing

I can't speak for Vons or Pavilions since they are not in my market. But I will say that I still don't understand why Albertsons and Safeway banners still coexist in the same markets in some areas of Oregon and Washington. Very little remodeling has been done since the merger, many stores have clos...

Is 2021 finally the end for Sears/Kmart?

Sears/Kmart has shockingly made it to 2021. Sears has 54 stores left. Kmart, meanwhile, is down to 5 stores each in CA and FL, one each in Guam, MD, MA, MI, MT, 4 each in NJ and NY, 3 in PA, 6 in Puerto Rico, and 4 on Virgin Islands. So yes, Kmart is down to 36 stores (only 25 in the continental US)...

Re: Sears/Kmart: Will 2020 be the end?

With that Big Bear closure, Kmart only has two stores left in SoCal: Costa Mesa and Long Beach. The question is, how much longer until those stores get shut? I wouldn't be surprised if these stores are on the next closure list...

Re: Kroger Deli Hot Food Programs

Pre Kroger monster merger mania...................King Soopers and Ralphs service departments RULED! Little by little they just kept on getting worse and worse. BTW.................here in Southern Cali I have caught many clerks using the same slicer for cheese and meat (man, did I lose it). I noti...

This store seems too small for Wal-Mart. I'm thinking if WM bought it, they'd tear it down.
Stater just completed an interior/exterior remodel to its Big Bear store. Vons just did an interior remodel.
I doubt Ralphs would want to enter Big Bear.

129 Bernal Road: Might've been a Lucky/Sav-on at one time. (Lucky California) 3270 S. White Road: Evidence shows that this Lucky got a mid-2000's Albertsons remodel (industrial decor) (Lucky California) 551 E. Capitol Expressway: former Lucky/Sav-on (Lucky California). Also had a mid-2000's Albertso...

Re: Albertsons & Smith's Las Vegas Observations

St. George is the last market in Utah where Albertsons has any presence save for the few Lucky stores, right? How did Utah's Albertsons get sold? They were a legacy market (stores in the area since the 1950s, not some 1990s acquisition/entrance, which composed many of the markets Albertsons had dur...

Re: Albertsons Las Vegas Observations

One store was off Eastern Ave (not far from the airport), the other was in Henderson. Both stores had a full "Grocery Palace" interior (no Supervalu signage, etc.). The stores in SoCal that opened with the "Grocery Palace" interior had the Jewel layout; these stores do not. Only Tustin, Murrieta, a...

Re: Walmart observations

The name of the chain in Argentina is Chango Mas (More Monkey). That alone could be reason for failure lol. Reminds me of when Chevrolet sold the Nova in Mexico (Which means 'it won't go' in Spanish). But seriously, the Argentine economy has been very volatile for years. I can understand why they w...
