Re: Albertsons Remodels

Florida and Modern are the same interior. There are some different levels of this interior (backgrounds, lighting, etc.) but same general interior. Stanford Ranch Albertsons had the "grocery palace" interior. A number of other Albertsons that were remodeled out of Lucky decor had what is ...

Re: CVS to close 900 stores

News is late, but...
CVS closed a store in Moorhead, MN. This is a former Osco (was a Buttrey-Osco combo store at one point). As such, this was the only Albertsons-operated store to exist in Minnesota (not counting Supervalu/Cub).

Re: Albertsons announces strategic review of company

Kroger strikes me as a way better merger partner for Ahold's East Coast chains (the strong chains- the two Giants and to a lesser degree Hannaford; Stop N Shop strikes me as weaker but I guess they have some strong points somewhere). Those chains are much more similar to Kroger's typical operation ...

Small marketing attempt on the Thrifty Ice Cream. Despite this has been running for 9 days now, mention on a coupon website in someone's message was the first I've heard of this. No in-store signs, e-mail, or reference in the print ads. Maybe it is advertised at the ice cream counters. https://www....

Re: Albertsons interior renderings

What is funny is the top one was the "upscale" version and the bottom one was the "Hispanic" version. Neither of those exact interiors was overly common. I thought both looked nice. The upscale interior was used in a dozen SoCal stores, mostly remodels. I think a few stores in C...

Re: Laurel, MT IGA transferred to Albertsons

I guess it will probably get a new décor package (LLC, maybe?) but it looks like they could just as easily shut it down for a long weekend to do a reset. It will probably get the Heritage interior, which is heavily used in Intermountain now. The 2012 LLC interior is out of production. In Billings, ...

Re: Subway Eliminates Customization and Switches To 12 Sandwiches

This is a win-win for everyone. It will take them less time to make the standard sandwiches, so the lines will move a bit more quickly. If it takes even 15 seconds less per sandwich, that will add up in a big way if there are 7 people in front of you at lunch time. If you are ordering online and ar...

Laurel, MT IGA transferred to Albertsons

Resse & Ray's IGA in Laurel, MT has closed. Albertsons has agreed to take over the space. Laurel is a commuter town/suburb 10 miles west of Billings, where Albertsons has 6 stores. I bet Albertsons is #1 in share in Billings. They are planning to build a store on the west side of Billings too. h...

Re: Gerrity's joins Wakefern

In and around Philadelphia, it seems they use The Fresh Grocer name on smaller format, more urban stores and they are sometimes more upscale stores too (though I think that applies more to the Brown’s stores than to the Burns stores). The four Nicholas Markets Fresh Grocers in New Jersey are defini...
