Re: Oxnard's only Ralphs closing May 2024
Reddit user comment, if true, says Vons on 5th & Ventura is also closing. https://www.reddit.com/r/venturacounty/comments/1bkekvh/oxnard_ralphs_will_close_when_lease_expires_in/ That one was built as an Albertsons in 1995 (mid-90s model store), divested to Top Valu during the Albertsons/Lucky m...

Re: Ralphs Fresh Fare Santa Barbara remodel
Gelson's in Santa Barbara is a divested Albertsons from 1999, it was a smaller late 70's/early 80's style store. Department placement sort of gave it away years ago but at this point you'd never know. Gelson’s Santa Barbara was originally an A&P (not a “centennial” store), then Shopping Bag, th...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Ahold minus Food Lion would have been a far better merger partner for Kroger than Albertsons also. The better Ahold stores are really a good fit with Kroger in my opinion. And I think Kroger could fix Stop & Shop the same way they fixed Pick N Save. I assume Food Lion is non-union? If so, I'd t...

Re: Oakland Taco Bell units: Drive Through Only, No Cash Accepted
The situation has gotten progressively worse since COVID. I have no idea how this will get fixed. The "tough on crime" to be elected city leadership, if they actually get elected... will need so many resources to fix the issues. Also will they fix the issues or just spread them out to oth...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
This merger I do think Kroger can legally defend successfully their claim they will "lower prices" as they have some proof of that with Roundys but past actions in no way guarantee future performance and to say I am skeptical of what they will do with pricing in the future is a nice way t...

Del Mar and La Costa (South Carlsbad) Albertsons stores also had this interior. In my opinion, the best looking Albertsons interior. Both are now Gelson’s, coincidentally.storewanderer wrote: ↑March 2nd, 2024, 8:53 pm I'm showing 42095 Washington Street as the address in Palm Desert of the store with the very strange interior.

Re: Lack of Whole Foods North County San Diego
Pacific Beach had PF&H 1 and was an early, thoroughly done remodel. The store looks infinitely better as Gelson's however. No Larry interiors in San Diego proper? I can't think of any either. I guess we can give Supervalu some credit for doing remodels. I don’t think anything in San Diego prope...

Re: Sears & Kmart 2024: Will someone please put them out of their misery?
The pictures online of Bridgehampton (the final Kmart) are..... Interesting. Looks like someone has been trying to hold the old linoleum floor together with some discount tile and a hot glue gun. Some really bad repairs and not sure if it is actually flat or not based on the pictures? I would worry...

Re: Gelsons Laguna Beach closing
I don't think it had the high end Albertsons decor, that was the Corona Del Mar store another ten miles or so north. It languished with Lucky decor for a long time before finally getting premium fresh and healthy or grocery palace decor as I remember it. I didn't understand why Gelsons bought it ot...
