Re: Target 2022

There are 3 stores nearby which I visit; two smaller/less affluent and one slightly larger/more affluent. Neither of the smaller stores is anywhere near this bad. The slightly larger store is distinctly worse than the other two (in-stocks, etc) and the clientele is unpleasant...definitely my least f...

Re: Starbucks To Open 2,000 Stores By 2025

I thought it interesting them talking about greater efficiency on the Frappucino---I'm not a fan, but my husband is. When I compare it to Tim Horton's iced cappuccino it's no contest--TH is far more efficient. For those unaware, Frappucino is ice, drink base, flavoring/espresso, and dairy blended to...

Re: Bed Bath & Beyond: Dying?

Finally had a wander through the store at Autry/Ramon in Palm Springs. Contrast with the Cost Plus in PSP (111/Farrell about 2 miles away) is amazing. Cost Plus--exactly as described here upthread--pleasant upbeat, well-stocked (was rocky for awhile...tbh) well displayed...enticing. BBB--this store ...

Re: Another Shaw's to close

We stopped in a tiny Shaw's in Wilmington, VT earlier in August. Didn't particularly impress, though bought a few things off their clearance rack (marked with the customary 50% off barcode) Nothing larger would be appropriate for the size of the community (20 miles from either Bennington or Brattleb...

Re: Nordstrom--where's the store?

We've only visited the home/furniture department at Palm Desert so don't know what the rest of the store is like. The mall management seems quite sketchy (they forced out a local independent record/media store which had hung on through Covid on a flimsy premise). We'll stroll through El Paseo now an...

Re: Meijer mid-size concept coming to suburban Detroit

yeah, Kroger wasn't mourned particularly when they left in the 80s. Schnucks' superior perimeter departments and exhaustive center-store selection have sustained them for a long time--they're everywhere in the metro and have lots of stores. They've had a few stumbles (a cybersecurity problem 4-5 yea...

Nordstrom--where's the store?

Just wondering if I'm hallucinating. We're out in Palm Springs at the moment and need to head into the Inland Empire for some appliance shopping. As it's hot as f***, perhaps a visit to the mall would be in order. Hmm, wouldn't mind stopping at Nordstrom. Surely the mall they're at would be more wor...

Re: WinCo- Oklahoma City- ending credit card acceptance

yeah, the only significant development up on that side of the 10 is Sun City, and we know what good customers the >55 set is (though it is a 12 month customer). Yeah, those Inland Empire developments are just like cookie cutters right along the 60 and other highways...seems every 8 miles there's ano...

Re: Meijer mid-size concept coming to suburban Detroit

I'd argue that a 80-90 sqft store is obout double a WM Neighborhood Market. This is absolutely a "Kroger weakness" play. They also could go into the far east side (the Grosse Pointes/SCS) with one of these as Kroger dominates over there. With the demise of SNS, St. Louis is entirely domina...
