What is the reasoning? Obviously California lawmakers don't care about shrink or theft, so this is just another excuse to support unions. In California you already can't use self checkout for liquor sales. This will only cause prices to go up......and frankly the reason I'd rather use self checkout...

Interesting that they are keeping Just Walk Out at the Amazon Go stores. Perhaps it works better in small format, or perhaps they are planning to use those stores to keep trying to improve the technology.

I think Tesco would be better

The weather is probably also a factor. There is higher demand for indoor malls in places where it is too cold to walk around outdoors for a portion of the year.
