Re: 7-Eleven Selling Around 70 Stores
Went on NRC's site and there's only one Michigan store for sale: a Rich-branded gas station in Standish. Rich was a brand used to convert some lower-volume Speedway and Total stations, very few Rich-branded stations remain.

Re: CVS to close 900 stores
(tbh this one would also likely be at risk, as it relied upon a full-employment RenCen). A month later and...indeed the RenCen CVS is closing, on October 20. This leaves just one CVS left in downtown Detroit, on Woodward at Campus Martius (in fact, that location will be receiving prescriptions from...

Re: CVS to close 900 stores
The CVS at Jefferson and Dickerson on the east side of Detroit is closing September 15th. This store was an early 2000s location that is very close to a lot of apartments and is also blocks away from both the revitalizing Jefferson-Chalmers district and from a huge Chrysler assembly plant. However, ...

Re: CVS to close 900 stores
More late news... CVS closed a store in Fayetteville, Tennessee on February 24 . This was a really old location that lacked a drive-thru. The next closest CVS stores are in the nearby towns of Tullahoma, Pulaski, Shelbyville, and Winchester, plus a few in the Huntsville, Alabama area. A CVS in downt...

Re: Arco- Marathon?
Arco has begun returning to eastern states (Marathon's traditional territory) it retreated from back in the mid-1980s. Among those states is Michigan, where a new Arco has popped up in New Baltimore in what had been a Clark-turned-Valero-turned-Gulf (both Gulf and 76 have exited Michigan for the sec...

Re: CVS to close 900 stores
CVS has just closed the store at the Southgate Shopping Center in Southgate, Michigan. This was an Arbor Drugs that was built during the Arbor-CVS merger, making it one of the last Arbors to ever open. Additionally, the CVS at Goddard and Pardee in Taylor is closing this Monday. As the norm for Mich...

Re: CVS to close 900 stores
Yet another Michigan closure that went unnoticed: Warren and Venoy in Westland closed on May 3. This was yet another ex-Arbor Drugs strip mall location.

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
Yet another Michigan closure: Melvindale closed earlier this year despite receiving the new logo. It was a freestanding location that kept its original pastel decor, was located in a past-its-prime inner-ring Detroit suburb, and was right across the street from a CVS, so that closure was somewhat lo...

Re: CVS to close 900 stores
Two other Michigan closures from earlier this year: a CVS in Lincoln Park (that is across the street from a Meijer, and thus may have been done in by Meijer's pharmacy) and a CVS in Wyandotte (in the downtown area there, which is already receiving two apartment-box redevelopment projects, so I would...

Re: CVS to close 900 stores
I'm going to imagine that some of the ex-Arbor strip mall locations in the Detroit area are getting the axe. I've already noticed two Detroit CVS closures within the past year, both in very rough areas (one on Dexter near Davison, and one in Highland Park).
