Re: H-E-B to enter DFW market proper with Plano, Frisco stores
Still curious what the plans are for the old Albertsons in the Red Bird area. I’m guess Joe V’s or Mi Tienda. I think putting in a “regular” H‑E‑B in a spot that small would cause an uproar, with people shouting about the disparities (features vs lack of features) between the new stores and this st...

Re: DFW Tom Thumb/Albertsons/MArket Street Observations
I finally went to the old Albertson's on Frankford and DNT the other day for the first time since the renovation and conversion to Tom Thumb. I noticed they named all of the aisles after the main thoroughfares in Far North Dallas. Tom Thumb still disgusts me as a grocer, and the renovation felt qui...

Re: Gas Price-Zone Price
Price seems to be creeping up again.... wonder what the current excuse is. [/u] I thought the summer blend isn't required this summer to keep prices down. Not sure I would use the word "excuse." The only reason there was a slight reprieve in gas prices is because there is speculation that...

No clue on the timeline, if that's actually the case.BatteryMill wrote: ↑May 5th, 2022, 10:43 amDo you see this happening this year?DFWRetaileWatcher wrote: ↑May 5th, 2022, 5:58 am I suspect the real reason these 3 Kmart stores remain open is that they're waiting on the leases to run out.

I suspect the real reason these 3 Kmart stores remain open is that they're waiting on the leases to run out.

Re: Walgreens pushing credit cards
Synchrony used to be the credit card arm of GE. They also do cards for Sam’s Club, Chevron, and other retailers That could answer the OP's (in part). The current CEO of Walgreens previously ran the operations for Sam's Club, where I'm sure it was normal to push credit cards given the big ticket ite...

Re: Whole Foods Closures
They are regular WFs. The Alabama stores are 6 or 7 years old. The DePaul store in Chicago was a Dominick's which probably was a better fit for the location and they have other stores about a mile and a half in each direction. The Englewood store was an experiment in a neighborhood that had seen be...

Re: Sam's Club to focus Member's Mark on sustainability
Costco has surprising gaps in their coverage, so they have room to grow. Next year, they're opening their first store in the Buffalo area, which could support more than one store. They only have a few stores in the Philly area--they have better representation around Pittsburgh which is a much small...
