Re: Is 2021 finally the end for Sears/Kmart?
BTW, I know it's not considered proper to criticize a judge, but I still think the judge who oversaw (or is still overseeing?) Sears' bankruptcy case made an error by letting this slow moton train wreck continue, instead of just forcing Lampert to liquidate all stores immediately in 2019. 2-3 years ...

Re: Publix entering Louisville, KY in 2023
I understand what you are saying about Publix having the same general products as Kroger and Wal Mart... but they have positioned themselves as better. Those lots of produce, for example, a big key to how the produce program in the store ends up going is in-store execution and handling of the produ...

Re: Publix entering Louisville, KY in 2023
But ultimately there's a cost to this; the SN, for example, asserted that Publix would fail in a market like Texas, that was largely price-driven. Publix could succeed in Texas being price competitive. Texas (especially the Dallas and Houston markets) is way too competitive for Publix. Plus, I'm pr...

Re: Publix entering Louisville, KY in 2023
I always figured that northern Mississippi (Tupelo, Oxford, etc) and Memphis would be next as it would be easily accessible from their AL distribution center. Louisville will bring them in competition with both Kroger and Meijer. Very interesting. Yeah, definitely a bold move for sure. Kroger is on...

Re: Halloween Stores
By nature, these stores tend to jump around to whatever vacant spaces are available. When a building is vacant for years they might be there several years in a row. There was also a competitor called Halloween City operating here for a while, but I haven't seen that one in several years now. I kind...

Re: Walmart observations
The minimum wage in some areas in California is aroundb$16 or more. That is the starting wage. You also have long time Walmart employees pushing over $20 an hour. In high minimum wage areas the store managers are under extreme pressure to cut long time employees. They are finding any minor reason a...

Re: Taco Bell Issues
Went to one of my local Taco Bells, and they literally had a kid (couldn't be any more than 12 or 13) working the drive thru window. He was nice enough and trying his best, but he was really struggling with understanding my order. It looks like there was 1 other person (adult) inside with them who w...
