Re: New Stater Bros. Riverside replacement store opening

Stater is really killing it in the inland empire. I wish they would open more stores in LA and OC. Albertsons/Vons could use some competition. These days even Ralphs isn't what it once was. Stater is investing in the areas with growth. This makes sense to me. Not many other parties are building con...

Re: New Stater Bros. Riverside replacement store opening

I’ve noticed being in Southern California on vacation, that the grocery chains don’t advertise much on television. I’ve never seen a Ralphs ad (unlike in Phoenix where there is a Fry’s ad almost every 15-20 minutes…even on cable)and there was only a few Albertsons/Vons ads. I have cable & prett...

New Stater Bros. Riverside replacement store opening

Two miles between the store being closed & the new replacement store is a bit of a stretch for Stater Bros. Especially in a city as large as Riverside. In my area, there are 4 Stater Bros. locations basically on the same street over 10 miles (from Lake Elsinore through Menifee on or just off Dia...

Re: Fruit Stands

There's quite a few of them along 152 turning off towards Gilroy after Casa De Fruita. The prices are much lower than Bay Area markets. Quality is very good, too. You'll see many roadside signs with their specials. Avocados, corn, garlic featured by most when I drove up to San Jose in August. I driv...

Re: Sprouts Operations

The Costco requires you to buy 2 huge boxes of muffins. Those are way too much. Freezing muffins is a good idea. Many stores out west sell thaw and sell muffins, not muffins baked in the store. The thaw and sell muffins tend to be soggy, oily, and break easily. I do not like those at all. In other ...

Re: Using an Old Receipt to Illustrate Inflation

Sorry to hear your local store doesn't offer that option in the service meat case. That's my go to place when there is an advertised item that requires a value pack or 3 lbs. or more price. I get the butcher at my local Vons to package the items in a small quantity so I can pull them out of the fre...

Re: Ralph's Fresh Fare Indian Wells Closing

Sprouts has signed and been approved for this former Ralphs location.
Unfortunately, this story is behind a paywall as is the story in the Desert Sun today.

Re: Using an Old Receipt to Illustrate Inflation

My local Albertsons/Vons has Yoplait cups for 80 cents normal price, or 59 cents if you buy 4. I didn't realize there was so much variation within the SoCal division. Ralphs went from 80 cents to 90 cents this week, and Walmart 60 to 64 cents, so I suspect the price increase on Yoplait cups is bein...

Re: Using an Old Receipt to Illustrate Inflation

Signature Select Vegetable cans are .67 each this week. Quite frankly, none of you know how to use digital coupons to your advantage. Walmart can't hold a candle to the prices I get at Vons. I'm up to 95% or more digital coupon use + apps for cashback or gift cards (such as Ibotta and Fetch Rewards...
