Maybe Spinco can be merged with Transformco and everything can be rebranded as the second coming of Kmart Food.
Sorry…

Re: Looking for a summary of NC grocery operators
Also plenty of Walmart Neighborhood Markets, a few Sprouts, and Fresh Market (founded in NC). There are a couple of Super Target locations around Charlotte and Raleigh/Durham. Agreed with @storewanderer on Ingles (mostly west of the Triad) and Lowes, which positions itself as "local" and &...

Re: Kroger in Milwaukee: 3rd time a charm?
#2, does that imply that American Stores bought into Skaggs Albertsons when Albertsons pulled out, or were they partnered alongside Albertsons prior to its respective split from Skaggs? Not too sure about #3 because there were "Skaggs Alpha Beta"-branded stores in California, where Jewel-...

Re: Kroger in Milwaukee: 3rd time a charm?
This seems to be a rather confusing history of mergers and the like. First; how did Skaggs Albertsons become Skaggs Alpha Beta? Was there any transaction made, or was Alpha Beta another arm of Albertsons at the time? Then since the Jewel-Osco rebrand was completed before they were bought by Ralphs ...

Re: Walmart observations
First time I’ve seen this: a Walmart in suburban Pittsburgh with a Halal fast food restaurant where the McDonald’s presumably used to be. Apparently it’s a chain or franchise based in NYC.

Re: 2022: 10 Kmart, 23 Sears stores remain...
What is funny is at least Greensboro looks clean, the lights are all on, etc. It was renovated just a few years ago when a Whole Foods was carved out of maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of the lower level. The interior is in good shape aside from groaning escalators, but the exterior has some issues (peeling paint...

Latest from the Greensboro Deathwatch. This store is still fully "open" (whatever that means now) and now features: 1. An ongoing fixture liquidation 2. Mattresses and damaged appliances now conveniently located on BOTH levels 3. Lots of clothing with Kmart price tags 4. Ugly Christmas swe...

Re: New Lucky Supermarket To Open in San Francisco
This location, as I recall, is a bit north of Bayview/Hunters Point central. I imagine that the growing Third Street corridor through Dogpatch (and maybe even parts of Mission Bay) would be a big part of the intended market since I don't think there's really a full-line supermarket south of China Ba...

Relocated to this space from downtown approximately 1974. A Whole Foods was carved out of about 35-40% of the lower level a few years ago. A comparable proportion of the upper level is now dedicated to mattresses.
