Re: Kroger to outsource Drug Dept. to Walgreens in Knoxville, TN Market

This is part of a bigger partnership between the two companies. "Today, Kroger (KR) and Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) announced the expansion of their strategic partnership. As per the announcement, Kroger would roll out Kroger Express stores within 35 additional Walgreens locations in Knoxville, ...

Kroger to outsource Drug Dept. to Walgreens in Knoxville, TN Market

Kroger is outsourcing the drug department (not pharmacy) to Walgreens in Knoxville, TN. Wow. What exactly does Walgreens bring to the table here? Weird private label brands. Super high prices. A trend of sales declines in recent years and in the process of closing hundreds of stores. Kroger's existi...

Re: Acme to close 4 stores

Did Albertsons do that converting FT to PT with these A&P to Acme conversions? I don't know much about them. I guess that is one way to handle volume declines without laying people off... though people often do not stay, when you do that to them. Save Mart did a ton of that with the Albertsons Store...

Re: Bi-Mart's Cascade Farm and Outdoor

TSC appears to have pulled back (?) from Oregon. I thought there was one in Pendleton... although now that I think about it, that is actually D&B (again, similar market, based in Idaho). There is a TSC in Walla Walla and a few through southwest Washington. Locally, definitely more like a competitor...

Acme to close 4 stores

https://www.northjersey.com/story/news/2019/08/08/acme-close-4-stores-nj-and-ny-fall/1943543001/ Looks like we have here 2 former Pathmarks which look lousy (unremodeled) but large stores, one former A&P banner of some kind which looks pretty decent, and another former A&P banner of some sort that a...

Re: New self checkouts at Home Depot

I first saw these new self checkout machines in December of last year. The old NCR machines were the ones that supposedly were hacked and led to the Home Depot breaches. These new Dell machines are not designed to deal with shoplifting or people who do not ring up all of their items. My local Home ...

Re: Fred Meyer shifting ad start day to Wednesday (was Sunday)

I've noticed Fry's pricing (and even their ads) are not nearly as good as they were 2-3 years ago. Safeway almost always has lower egg prices (although some require Just 4 U) and I've noticed lower prices at Safeway for numerous other items as well. This More Ways to Save is going on at Fry's but t...

Re: New self checkouts at Home Depot

I'm surprised that the new self-scan set up is getting bad reviews. I like the hand held scanner much better. The entire process was faster and less stressful for me. I would agree the wireless hand held scanner works much better than the bolted down scanner, for the various large object items sold...

Re: Fred Meyer and Harris Teeter Kroger phones?

Harris Teeter is on Kroger's cash registers and that is really it. They are still on their old systems for private label (even redesigning the old private label as we speak into designs that are NOT Kroger designs...), shelf tags, merchandising, perimeter, ads, and basically everything else. Some o...

https://www.weismarkets.com/ still likes Cooper Black. There's no accounting for style on the east coast  Even better when the interior signs match the exterior.
