Re: Albertsons North Texas closing 4 stores
I think sometimes stores have their "offices" in what is not the best store anymore (maybe it was at some point in time). I was in a Raleys tonight in Reno at 7th and Keystone. Behind the store is an office building owned by Raleys and that is their Nevada Office where they base various ma...

Re: Let’s talk about Kroger Pay.
I too had some concerns and would never enter a "debit card" into the cell phone in any case. Then again I only use "debit card" at one merchant: WinCo. But I figured for a credit card with zero fraud liability, was less risky. So a few years ago I added a card into the program a...

Safeway expansion of drug department
Noticed tonight in a NorCal Safeway they made some changes to the drug department. Gone are the four feet high shelves in half of drug and a center aisle splitting those from some taller aisles that had baby and shampoo. Now the center aisle is eliminated and all 3 of the drug aisles are full height...

Re: Amazon drops New York for HQ2
It sounds like they will still be doing the hiring, but it will be in a couple other locations instead.
It seems like Amazon will save a lot of money by just doing these positions in different locations.

Re: Let’s talk about Kroger Pay.
I thought they were going to introduce Chase Pay. What happened to that? Literal copy of CVS Pay (which got discontinued and a message in the App referred users to Apple Pay or Google Pay. This is an example of Kroger's "technology" initiatives. They are lagging way behind competition intr...

Kroger closes Columbus Bakery
This was a pretty significant plant as it made breads for stores in that region but also made many of the packaged Kroger cookies and crackers sold throughout the chain. It will be interesting to see how they source these packaged private label items now. Here's a good video of the plant. https://m....

Re: Smart & Final Extra
I notice Smart & Final has put itself up for sale. I wonder how many "underperforming stores" they have. Maybe Albertsons can get more divested stores back and convert them back to full service stores that will better serve their neighborhoods. Lame Food 4 less wannabe store with lousy...

Re: Target: Changing pricing on app when customers go in store
It goes both ways. I've added to my phone the Kohl's app. Kohl's often does not update its clearance markdowns and items are frequently scanning at less than the tagged clearance price. When the store is busy there is often a line at the price scanner. So I found on the Kohl's app a price check func...

Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway
I don't usually comment much on personnel changes but I noticed today that the last of the old Safeway division presidents (Lori Reya) who was Vons president under Safeway, then became president of Southwest under Albertsons, has taken a position at Nash Finch or Spartan Nash or whatever they are ca...

Good layout. Looks like a late 90's Lucky for produce, bakery, deli, and service meat.rwsandiego wrote: ↑February 7th, 2019, 8:54 pm Although the papers did not post interior pics, the Catalina Chamber of Commerce posted a couple.
