Re: 99 CENT ONLY closing
Can't figure out what stores supposedly close May 12. Hearing there is another group of stores supposedly closing May 19. Docket 472 in the bankruptcy case notes they have a stalking horse agreement with Ollie's to take over 8 leased and 3 owned stores for $14.6 million. I assume those are all in TX...

Re: Proposed and delayed WinCo in Centralia, WA
About time. Safeway desperately needs competition in this market. Wal Mart also runs extremely high volume there and this will impact them to some extent but recent WinCo openings don't seem to impact Wal Mart as much as they once did. Fred Meyer would have been better but WinCo is a great addition,...

Re: Circle K Lowers Prices on Drinks
Circle K West, even corporate locations, do NOT participate in the "Inner Circle" app. Further I was told there is no promotion for 79 cent any size drinks or Frosters, however when I bought one, I was charged the 79 cents. No tax on non-carbonated beverages in CA- be sure to tell the cash...

Re: Dutch Bros. To Offer Mobile Ordering For The First Time Amid Profits
What ever happened to Coffee Bean? There used to many inside of Ralphs and a few in the San Francisco Bay Area. Now they seemed to have disappeared from Northern California. Are there a lot still in Southern California? I always thought of Coffee Bean as having a smaller menu than Starbucks. Coffee...

Re: New Temecula Smart & Final
This may sound wild, but hear me out. If Kroger wants to expand in California, they should introduce the Ruler Foods format. Their attempts at conventional supermarkets clearly aren't working, but small, limited assortment stores might. Aldi had a great concept that seemed to be doing incredibly we...

Re: CA Senate Bill 478- "Junk fees" bill
It is confirmed, as of July 1st all the fees at restaurants must be folded into the menu prices. No more surcharges. No more automatic gratuities either even for large parties. Link to the AG documents in this article. It's very clear. https://www.timeout.com/los-angeles/news/its-finally-official-a...

Re: Kohl's To Open In-Store Babies R Us Shops
Kohl's has really cleaned up its merchandising in my area. In terms of basic housekeeping- the stores are clean, and presentation is looking a lot better. They were really looking awful for a number of years, they felt like a dead chain that had just given up. But they seem to have learned how to do...

Re: Williams-Sonoma fined $3.175m for "Made in USA" labels on Chinese products
I was listening to man on the bus talking about how his company makes the materials for mattresses in China and then does the final packaging in a warehouse in the Oakland, California area in the US. They call it made in the USA, but it is practically done already in China. The mattresses come off ...

...I'm not sure when these stores will give up on these programs and quit tolerating the shrink. When they work at all it is always in a very limited number of stores... My nearby Safeway, located on the fringe of Downtown Phoenix where several affluent neighborhoods meet along a major, well-travel...
