Re: Target Paid Membership Program?

Are they requiring Circle for all sale prices now? Like a grocery store loyalty card?

Re: First New JCPenney In 8 Years Opens

Most retailers now purchase consultant services that determine the store hours for them. Hours are not indicative of performance, sometimes the opposite. I've worked for companies where my "better" stores were determined to be able to open later or close earlier, while lower performing st...

Re: Never built, but proposed

Can you list stores and what town they were proposed in?? For example, Best Buy was proposed in Yuba City, but didn't open. Construction permits, city council minutes/planning commission minutes, can be a good resource to find this sort of thing out. But once the openings don't happen it gets burie...

Re: Bojangles coming to Los Angeles

We will see how many actually open. This chain has become a joke. The one in IL doesn't even sell bone in chicken only has chicken tenders. Their new menu does not include bone-in chicken. It's tenders only. A location opened near me in a Love's that operates the same way. Spoiler alert - it's just...

Re: Red Lobster Considering Bankruptcy Filing

I think the chain would be in a stronger position had Darden kept it. Darden knows how to operate restaurants and make money. Food may not be great but they are good at managing what they have and good at brand management. Seafood pricing hasn't inflated to the extent of other categories the past co...

Re: Rubys "Shake Shack" opening in Reno

The developer is the former Raising Canes franchisee who developed out all of Nevada and Arizona for Raising Canes. These guys are very strong operators and their ability to build those two states out for Raising Canes, become the largest franchisee, then sell the u units all to corporate was quite...

Wow... that is indeed the Pay N Save decor...

Funny how it sort of matches the current Rite Aid colors too.

Re: 99 CENT ONLY closing

Store in Reno is now giving all customers the "employee discount." All purchases are an extra 20% off. This isn't advertised anywhere and you find out when you go to pay. The receipt says "employee ID 111" whatever that is. I'm not sure what the extremely rude cashier did to make...

Re: Valley Center Albertsons canceled

There are government grants available to tribes to open businesses like this so it is possible they will get funding to build an entire "market" for free. These grants are often used for gas stations and smaller businesses. I found it interesting the article explicitly stated this will NOT...

Re: Aldi lists job openings at multiple warehouses and nearly 30 stores in Northern California

The freestanding west coast RIte Aids are around 18,000 square feet. That should be sufficient size for an Aldi but as ClownLoach points out you have the issues with the loading dock and other issues since those are not legitimate "grocery" buildings. Aldi continues to lease larger sites i...
