Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
I think this CEO is just there to navigate the bankruptcy. Which raises another question who is going to run this chain after bankruptcy...? Given the last CEO they had... it seems like they have trouble finding experienced candidates. And the company is not as desirable now as it was when they were...

Re: Official: Red Lobster files Chapter 11
Let me rephrase: Darden Corp. used to have restaurants with Darden on the FRONT outside. Do they still have restaurants named Darden? When was this/what did these units sell? I wonder if the company founder started these separately at some point? https://www.referenceforbusiness.com/history2/73/Dar...

Re: 99 CENT ONLY closing
It appears Dollar Tree will not be using the 99 Only name and says they are reopening these as Dollar Tree. I guess I'm not surprised but they will fail with oversized stores in their current format. Also some group called "Socal dollar store llc" bid and won about 7 stores. I can't find ...

Re: Downtown Scottsdale Fry's to become a Whole Foods
I think 19th/Union Hills is an original Frys but it is difficult to tell. Maybe a severely expanded store?

Cocos Food-Stockton, CA (and Sterling, VA?)
A previous Lucky/Save Mart in Stockton, CA has reopened as "Cocos Food." Cocos Food seems to be a chain with another location in Sterling, VA. I don't really understand the geography... This seems to be a Korean focused store yet Stockton has almost no Korean population so I am really conf...

Vallarta adding 2 Modesto Stores
They're taking over two long closed Raleys and Save Mart units. It is interesting they will do two stores at the same time. Cardenas seems pretty stagnant in NorCal, they aren't doing as much as I would have expected them to do as far as expansion goes. I suspect this will result in further Vallarta...

Re: NorCal Safeway- Some Bay Area Stores removing self checkout
It looks like save mart/food maxx may also follow suit more because their machines are outdated than anything else. Save Mart has a lease on the machines. All of their machines are from 2016 or newer but they are already in terrible condition and barely functioning. Raleys has similar machines but ...

Re: Amazon Fresh Lowering Prices
Reading the announcement what Amazon is doing is just starting to offer weekly sale prices. Did they not do this before? Now that I think about it on my last few visits there were VERY few items on sale in center store. Everything was regular price and the regular prices were HIGH (like Safeway leve...
