Re: Franchisees opposed to improved McDonald's operations?

McDonald's wants to improve and perfect its brand across all operating locations. Having a rigorous grading system will determine which locations are excelling and other locations that need to address issues for improvement. Locations that develop a paper trail of consistent failures could be subje...

Re: Family Dollar Distro Center Rodent Infestation- products recalled - FDA

They are closing this distribution center. Not sure how they plan to supply the 400 stores it supplied...? This is either a very reactionary move or the facility is so contaminated the only option is to demolish it. However they have been doing it already since March, probably. Likely realized that...

Re: Ralphs and Food 4 Less Closing in Long Beach over $4 per hour additional required "Hero Pay"

My success was never about payroll though I got "talked to" about it constantly. My focus was on customer service, employee development, community relations and very high operating standards. All that created a clear pathway for High Profits (most often top 5 in the company). The E-Suite ...

Re: Ralphs and Food 4 Less Closing in Long Beach over $4 per hour additional required "Hero Pay"

Funny how their "reason" for closing was a lie. Payroll is such a fun-er reason to give. Those darn employees always costing so much money. Greedy little things!            They made a statement. The Hero Pay remained in place. ...

Saigon City Supermarket-Westminster

This is a real beat up old Ralphs. It still retains most of Ralphs decor and aisle hangers. I'm not entirely sure what was on the left wall of the store between produce and seafood (there is a fixture that says Floral) which is mostly covered in tarps. What is odd here is seafood is at back left, da...

All I can say is that in my experience even upper management in Northern California turns over annually or even more frequently at most chains. This has been going on for about 5 years now.
Grocery business is a bit more stable than this. But this is what I am observing at other retailers.

Re: 2022: 10 Kmart, 23 Sears stores remain...

I just can't imagine that any remaining full line Sears or Kmart stores are leased. The sales must be so low that they just cover the cost of the skeleton crew and basic utilities. Maybe someday after they finally close everything, someone will convince Eddie to explain the logic to keeping these s...

Re: PetSmart Operations

That Unleashed was the last one to open in the East Long Beach area that I can think of. The first was next to the Vons and former Rite Aid in the Traffic Circle center, a solidly busy center and it closed. There is one in an old bank building at 7th and Redondo by the Smart and Final where they ha...

Put simply I think Stater Bros. put this store out of business.

I am sure that Stater is much busier than it was as an Albertsons in 1999. Probably does double or triple the business. Ralphs tried to combat them with an expansion and it backfired due to messing the parking lot up so badly.

Re: Franchisees opposed to improved McDonald's operations?

Southern California is almost like a different state compared to Northern California. There is an entirely different culture and attitude towards pricing. Northern California seems to be high priced, and the people tolerate the high prices. Southern California seems more price competitive. Practica...
