Re: Ross Store closure-Susanville, CA

Clean, well-stocked stores, racks that are not crammed with disheveled merchandise, lines that are not interminable, and a security guard at the front door who is reasonably friendly. Let's face it: you don't shop at Ross for the ambience. You shop there for the prices. Do they redecorate or anythi...

Re: Grocery Outlet

I'm on the other side of the coast so merchandising seems a bit different. In PA (the only state where they currently have locations on the east coast), milk comes from Lancaster county based Turkey Hill. I've never noticed any 'Harvest Day' items either. Selection of course changes every week but ...

Re: Raleys converting Reno Store to ONE Market Format

This store finally reopened its salad bar and hot food bar. There is a new price increase to 9.99/lb for these. .... The salad bar looks exactly like it did a year and a half ago before the COVID thing closed it. It isn't a big salad bar but it has a nice variety of ingredients and options. Not clea...

Re: Ross Store closure-Susanville, CA

It's easy to dump on Ross but it's one of the great success stories in retail. As I've said before on this forum, the higher-end stores get the headlines while stores that focus on the low end are often looked at as being rundown, unimaginative, or a dive. But places like Ross, Dollar General, Five...

Food 4 Less - Arkansas

It appears Food 4 Less in Arkansas was owned by Wal Mart for a time period in the early 90's. What happened to these stores ultimately? It looks like there were about 17 stores. https://www.oklahoman.com/article/2370849/wal-mart-buys-food-chain-in-arkansas Guessing they decided to take control of th...

Re: CVS Store Closure Sparks, NV

In my area, CVS has been actively closing supersized former Longs & Savon Drug stores. Several others were heavily renovated and shrunk. Guess it’s a trend... CVS needs to exit these large old poorly maintained and undermerchandised (and in the case of the Longs-smelly) stores. They are just aw...

Re: Ross Store closure-Susanville, CA

Ross has upgraded its stores in Phoenix and the one in Flagstaff is great. Sorry to hear that did not extend to the entire chain. I never shopped there in San Diego because their stores were so depressing. What does the upgrade involve? Last time I went to Ross in Reno, and this is a store in a saf...

Re: Mariano to develop small format in Chicago: Dom's

I wonder how many more they will open in the next couple of years. Strong backing here.

The focus on the fresh departments seems to be a good way to go.

Ross Store closure-Susanville, CA

The Ross in Susanville closed. Goodwill is taking the space. This may actually be an upgrade.

Re: Grocery Outlet

Yes I see lots of Essential Everyday at Grocery Outlet. That would be through Supervalu/UNFI.
