Re: New Albertsons Interior Southern California
Smiths used to hire 14 and 15 year olds pre-Kroger, and there were very limited rules on when they could work and what tasks they could perform. I knew of a couple of them who took jobs there at 14 and actually worked there all the way through college stopping at cashier then eventually did leave fo...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
I wonder where the line is drawn for Rite Aid as "NorCal." Let's just go with Stockton and San Jose north. If you draw the line there and include Stockton and San Jose, it appears NorCal has about 80 stores left. This is not an insignificant number of stores. If you take the line down not ...

Re: 99 CENT ONLY closing
The still open stores are now listed:

All close Sunday as mentioned above.
Texas seems to still have the highest percentage of its stores open.
Not much left in AZ, NV, or NorCal.

Re: New Albertsons Interior Southern California
They can work 14 and 15 year olds very limited hours in some places, not sure about CA. Task limited too. Basically bagging, cleaning off counters... could probably assign them carts but wouldn't personally.

Re: Official: Red Lobster files Chapter 11
It has nothing to do with the shrimp. Ridiculous media interpretation trying to distract from the real issue the private equity rape of the chain. Must have assigned the politics reporters to this story.

Re: Five Below - Self Checkout Not Allowed
This at Five Below is not quite as bad as Dollar General who completely killed the self checkout software entirely and deactivated the lanes, but close. Off topic, but was DG supposed to get rid of self checkout everywhere? I popped into one back on May 5th and it was still open and people were usi...

Re: New Albertsons Interior Southern California
Right, most of East Norriton's decor is left over from ShopRite, but I imagine since the store is being renovated now, it'll be changed. Yep...I happened to pop in here a few days after I made my post a few back and it has indeed had a more thorough remodel. Unfortunately it is still the 'Quality B...

Re: Self Check Outs
Not seeing item limits in NorCal much on these self checkouts. I've seen one Wal Mart with a 20 item limit but they already removed all of their horrible store made signs they had posted about it... there is another Wal Mart who put signs up that said 15 items or less on all of the self checkouts an...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Meanwhile one could make the argument that Kroger's continued growth of large marketplace stores is really a invasion of Target and Walmart's segments. That does add complexity because the feds don't view things that way. So the feds just see conventional supermarket industry players and share, the...

Re: 99 CENT ONLY closing
According to ads on Facebook, Sunday is the final day for all stores. I haven't inquired directly about fixtures, but I have noticed they're not selling much. Free-standing items seem to be sold while shelving and perimeters are being left alone. Maybe they had a bid for the entire lot of shelving?...
