Re: Target 2022
What is obvious is that SuperTargets have immediate entrances to grocery versus most PFresh locations. It is an interesting compromise however seeing as how it entices guests to go through more of the store, and they seem somewhat wavering on adding more entrances to the store. I know this as in th...

Re: 2022: 10 Kmart, 23 Sears stores remain...
No clue on the timeline, if that's actually the case. Well I guess since Kmart is Kmart, they may stretch these stores out a couple more years. I saw some somewhat recent photos of the last NY Store and it appears the Sears Appliance Department is basically emptied out, but in clothing they are som...

Re: Target 2022
What advantages do you see with the SuperTarget format? I've seen those nicely populated, but I'm not sure if the inventory count or having a deli or bakery would sound 'worth it' to Target. The advantages to Super Target are that it drives visits to the stores more often. This results in increased...

Re: Kroger in Milwaukee: 3rd time a charm?
Kroger bought what was basically a distressed asset with good large size stores in Milwaukee, Pick N Save, and got what was a jewel of a format but not necessarily one that made much money, Mariano's in Chicago. From the best I can tell, Kroger has marginalized Mariano's (but is it more profitably t...

Re: Target 2022
Went into Target last night. I didn't see anything different than I've ever noticed there this time of year in terms of "clearance" sales, so not sure if that whole thing about taking big markdowns to clear inventory was all an attempt to get PR and make customers go to Target looking for ...

Re: Bed Bath & Beyond: Dying?
Looking at the balance sheet after the earnings release - they had to take out a quick $200M loan to end the quarter at only about $100M in cash on hand. A year ago they had over $1B in cash. They halted remodels - I wonder if they realized that money was being wasted when they announced store clos...

Re: Safeway NorCal Remodels and New Stores
Based on the post here regarding Vons' specials this week, I decided to place a "Drive-Up & Go" order. What a mistake! First of all, they charged me the "member price" for the Fab 5 specials I ordered (8 of them, in full). When I attempted to contact them (before picking up ...

Re: Walgreens Decides Not To Sell Boots
Maybe WAG could begin restocking their half-empty stores., which is common in Phoenix (except for the Sun City stores-which are well stocked and still have full liquor depts) They need to reconsider their "simple store" program. For some stores that were low volume and made "simple s...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
Given the fact that even routine and even emergency maintenance(along with labor hours)have been cut back chainwide for a couple months,I have to wonder if things have suddenly spiraled beyond the control of the management.I don't believe that store's manager(came there from my store 10-11 months a...
