Re: Speedway/7-Eleven integration

Bought gas from a 7-Eleven. This one had the Chip card turned on. After playing 20 questions with their stupid gas pump's payment process- the loyalty card question, zip code question, constant "leave card inserted" message keeps flashing through all this even after it already said "c...

Re: Starbucks sells off Evolution Fresh

The juice fad is over. People are not into juice like they used to be. Starbucks should have focused on coffee and tea. No one goes to Starbucks for juice. They would go to Jamba Juice if they wanted juice. Is Jamba Juice still open in most areas? They have disappeared in many cities. I have not se...

Re: Dollar Tree Operations

Well Dollar Tree has posted record profits and issued a glowing outlook. I guess the price hike is a success, along with the rodent issue at the Arkansas distribution that supplied Family Dollars in multiple surrounding states. I suggest next year since they will need to make Wall Street happy again...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

Looks like the CA employees sued over having to buy blue shirts and khakis. https://news.bloomberglaw.com/health-law-and-business/rite-aids-12-million-wage-settlement-gets-final-approval I am confused why this even happened- Rite Aid in CA back in the 00's used to have a uniform polo shirt for the e...

Re: Acorn does a price check: NY, Chicago, LA suburbs

I wonder how Trader Joes would do with that price list. Assuming they had all of the items... I think Kroger is pricing more and more off of Target. Not sure what QFC is doing being so much more expensive than Albertsons, that is really off. I saw another chart that a Northwest blogger and a Housto...

Re: BrandX To Relaunch Bon Ton and Open a Carson's

Didn't someone else reopen Carson's already? Some website?

I guess I didn't realize this name actually was somewhat sought after (or so some people seem to think).

Can't wait to see what these folks do when the name "Sears" becomes available.

Re: Circle K Selling 17 Arizona stores, closing 12 in Phoenix area

I am a bit surprised to see two WA locations being sold. Circle K corporate recently bought a string of stations from ARS Fresno (an old Shell and Tesoro multi-site operator doing business as "Porter's") in mostly smaller OR/WA markets ... ARS Fresno continues to operate the Speedway Expr...

Re: Speedway/7-Eleven integration

In Northern California, many Mobil stations converted to Speedway or Speedway Express. The Mobil stations were some of the lowest priced gas stations around except for Costco. Mobil became a trusted brand once again. The Mobil brand in the San Francisco Bay Area became BP in the early 90s and then ...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

I hate 45 degree stores regardless of who operates it. But Rite Aid somehow was even worse because of the meandering path that intersected the store in a jagged manner. Just the worst layout imaginable, and I've done enough space planning to be able to say that this layout reduces capacity instead ...

Re: Wendy's

Habit is really not doing well. There used to be long lines and the parking lots were packed. Now you see an empty parking lot and few customers if any inside. Their popularity has gone down. Wendy's might do fine if the right company buys it. I think Wendy's will keep being a distant second or thi...
