Re: Macy’s 2020

Mission Viejo men's store still looks like they're having a sale on empty floor space, but this is clearly in preparation for the consolidation of the two stores. Although Macy's has not commented publicly there have been many City Council meetings where their representatives are negotiating about ...

Re: Macy’s 2020

I was at the Lakewood, CA Macys store today. Several years ago it was downsized with the basement level being closed off to the public. Today, the lower level is now open once more with about 1/3 of it being the Backstage. It makes it look like a bargain basement and I actually like it. They had the...

Re: CVS to end liquor sales in "Health Hub" stores

The Health Hub stores near me are all huge former Sav-on locations: Arcadia - a former Super Safeway that was a HUGE Sav-on and CVS for years. A few years ago it downsized and Aldi moved into the former market side of the store and CVS maintains a large store there still. Downey - a CVS so huge that...

Re: Kohl's To Open 100 Small Format Stores

Kohls Montebello opened a few years ago in a former 99cent store (which itself was a former Circuit City and prior to that a part of a large 82k sq ft Zodys store that closed around 1986). Its a mere 30k sq ft big making it a SMALL Kohls.

Re: Sizzler

https://www.yelp.com/biz/sizzler-montebello On a Sizzler side note, my local one reopened about two months ago after being closed for about 2 years. It was remodeled and has been extremely busy every day since reopening. On weekends, they actually have valet parking because parking is hard to find, ...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

Went into the non-closing Alhambra Rite-Aid yesterday. The store is in a sad state. Only one employee in the whole store (not including pharmacy. there may have been more in the back but I didnt see any on the floor itself), full aisles were empty with "new stuff coming soon" all over, and...

Re: Pep Boys & Advance Auto

Covina and West Covina (CA) Pep Boys stores getting co-branded as well. Both stores are along Azusa Ave. Advance Auto Parts has the retail shop while Pep Boys has the service bays. Advance used to be part of Sears in the 1980's until it was spun off in the '90's and a just few years ago bought the ...

Re: Gas Stations Dropping Brand Names

It goes back to the Standard Oil of California days-they were considered the premier service station system on the West Coast (Union 76 was their closest rival) Noticed down in SoCal the 76 stations looked better than they look in other territories. But lately in my area 76 stations have been chang...

Re: Safeway NorCal Remodels and New Stores

The decor yes, but the layout of the store is very odd. Looks like bakery and deli sandwiched in the front corner then produce beyond that including some wall space. Looks like an 80's Albertsons non-combination store The layout has actually been the same since it was a Grocery Warehouse (owned by ...

Re: Safeway NorCal Remodels and New Stores

Albertsons is remodeling the Montebello location. They rearranged the store and im not sure where anything is anymore. They did rename all the aisles with local street names which is kinda neat. Not sure when they are going to finish but its looking nice. I'll have to grab some pictures next time I...
