Re: Safeway NorCal Remodels and New Stores

A former Lucky, this store had a Jewel remodel done in 2003. Albertsons is remodeling the Montebello location. They rearranged the store and im not su...

Re: Dead/Dying Malls in Your Area and Predictions

Im officially putting Puente Hills Mall on death watch. The last traditional Department store at the mall, Macys, closed. Its only being anchored by an AMC Theater, Round 1, Burlington and Ross. Funny thing, Ross had moved into the mall from the center across the street. Its down to a few stores ins...

Latest from the Greensboro Deathwatch. This store is still fully "open" (whatever that means now) and now features: 1. An ongoing fixture liquidation 2. Mattresses and damaged appliances now conveniently located on BOTH levels 3. Lots of clothing with Kmart price tags 4. Ugly Christmas sw...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

One of the two Beverly Hills stores is closing. This one opened 33 years ago as a Thrifty. I believe the other one was a Payless turned Thrifty and is a few blocks away from it.

Re: Pavilions Laguna Niguel Shrinking

The Torrance Vons on Crenshaw is also very large. It's never busy. That store is also a former Smiths. These former Smiths stores REALLY stand out as oversized with Safeway's format but they do a good job masking the situation by spreading things out with a lot of space (and even allocations of spa...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

I remember Santa Barbara-State St. as a Thrifty going back to at least the mid 1960's. From what I read, the store was downsized by Thrifty when the mall was built due to eminent domain for the mall. Im shocked the Alhambra store is still open. They closed the Downtown Alhambra store last year, but...

Re: Burlington stores shrinking

Burlington has shrunk stores here as well. Arcadia was a former 2-level store that took over a former Hinshaws department store. Several years ago they closed off the upper level of the store and made all the departments downstairs. There are several areas down there that are completely thin and spr...

Re: Vons Westminster, CA 16450 Beach Blvd

Montebello has both an Albertsons and a Vons, and are 1.9 miles apart from each other.

The Albertsons in Ahambra is exactly two miles from the Pavillions South Pasadena and 2.1 miles from the Vons across the street.

Re: Vons Westminster, CA 16450 Beach Blvd

Not really surprising. I believe it's been on the "watch list" for years. The location was never great and the initial Pavilions leases were notorious for being to high. Westminster opened as a new Pavilions.....most of those have closed or changed to "Vons" branding. Most of th...
