Re: Kroger to outsource Drug Dept. to Walgreens in Knoxville, TN Market

Kroger has a lot to offer to Walgreens through an expanded food mix and the pick-up service. There is also a benefit to Kroger because this increases their volume of food and online ordering pick-ups to additional sites. This further benefits Walgreens because they were at a cost disadvantage on fo...

Re: Kroger to outsource Drug Dept. to Walgreens in Knoxville, TN Market

This is part of a bigger partnership between the two companies. "Today, Kroger (KR) and Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) announced the expansion of their strategic partnership. As per the announcement, Kroger would roll out Kroger Express stores within 35 additional Walgreens locations in Knoxville, T...

Re: New self checkouts at Home Depot

I'm surprised that the new self-scan set up is getting bad reviews. I like the hand held scanner much better. The entire process was faster and less stressful for me.

The new logo pays homage to the original logo . The original logo used the same basic font but with italics and was angled up:

Re: Gelsons opening first of former Haggen locations January 14

Update: Back in December of last year it was reported that the three properties owned by the company were for sale. Pacific Palisades was listed for $60 million and sold for $51 million in April (85 % of asking) West Hollywood was listed for $28 million and sold for $25 million in May (88% of asking...

Re: (City of) Malibu Grocery Store Report - Article

The writer doesn't seem to know the history of Malibu grocery stores. Ralphs was originally a newly built Hughes Market which moved from their long time location in another shopping center. Pavilions was once a Westward Ho Market. Actually both stores started out as Mayfair Markets. The one in Poin...

Re: The Container Store - New "Custom Closets" Stores

No, wait - I don't think it was Hold Everything. That was a Williams-Sonoma concept. I think it was an Organized Living store. You could be right. When I search both brands on Google The Container Store comes up. Is it possible both operated in that space? It has had a lot of tenants over the years.

Re: The Container Store - New "Custom Closets" Stores

The location used to be a different home organization retailer whose name I forgot. I think it was called Hold Everything or something similar. That parking lot is actually the best kept secret if you just need to get something quick at Farmer's Market or The Grove. The turnover is really quick and...

Re: McDonald's franchisees want a better chicken sandwich

McDonald's is really barking up the wrong tree here, customers don't really care if every restaurant is identical (as McDonald's has been updating them with a very rapid pace in the last decade), they want restaurants with competent execution. If McDonald's could institute a program that ensures re...

Re: Oregon and SW Washington UFCW Union May Strike

The other argument is the union scales push up pay for management since you would not have an easy time getting people to move up to salaried non-union management if there was not an ample pay premium from a unionized clerk position. Isn't that a good thing? It's not pushing up the pay for executiv...
