Re: Belk
I've never been to either chain but in general December 27th is not a good day to judge store conditions at any retail company because the of the fluctuation in sales caused by the Holidays. Unfortunately a lot of private equity companies aren't interested in the operations of the companies they buy...

Re: Albertsons & Smith's Las Vegas Observations
The fuel station is, I think, a former AM PM or former Chevron Station; Vons did not actually build that fuel station, rather, they moved into it. The Vons Store itself is a former Mervyns Store (part of it) and opened with that interior, hence the layout is a little different than usual and it is ...

Re: Save Mart sells/leases back 7 Sacramento area properties
The Albertsons Roseville Distro Center was built for about 75 stores back in the late 80's or early 90's (it was to supply the NorCal/Central California Albertsons, which weren't many, and the Reno stores). It was built as a full distribution for dry grocery/frozen/perishable at that time (drug was...

Re: Save Mart sells/leases back 7 Sacramento area properties
The six stores are all in shopping centers. Did the sale include the shopping centers or just the physical stores? If it includes the shopping centers the sale prices are O.K. but not great. That distribution center seems really small and oddly designed. I'm curious how it is configured. It appears ...

You're right. I corrected my post. I meant to say Sears all along.

Re: Walgreens' logo redesigned
I'd like to see a customer survey for how many customers who have looked at their website or other advertisements where they have displayed this new logo, even notice/are aware there is a new logo. I think the marketing department would be disappointed in the results. Perhaps the accounting departm...

Re: Sears/Kmart: Will 2020 be the end?
This video of Sears in the 50’s shows them in their prime. They were relevant and innovative then. They were the ‘Amazon’ of their day.

Re: Gas Stations and Car Washes
Car washes definitely seem to do better in some places than they do in others, which probably has a lot to do with the seasons. In a place like the Pacific Northwest the rainy season is roughly 7-8 months out of the year, and snow is relatively uncommon in the lowlands even in Winter. Car washes do...

We must be hogging them up here in SoCal. In the last week I have gotten them at Stater Bros., Gelson's and Ralphs.
