Re: Stores removing self checkout (Save Mart)

Well, the Walmart thing must not be universal...Grand opening at the new store in Grimes, IA this week...and they HAVE self-checkouts.

Re: Rite Aid's Future

I don't think the video rental industry is a fair comparison because, in that case, the floor fell through the business model. Something came along that replaced it (streaming and Redbox) and their customers abandoned them seemingly overnight. There's nothing on the horizon to replace drug stores. A...

Re: Taco Time resurgence

Yes, Taco Time NW is a former franchisee who broke off from the Taco Time International chain years ago. They are completely separate animals. Re: Walgreens and CVS Expanding Food Selection

I've always seen Walgreens as an overglorified convenience store. A couple aisles of food, an aisle of candy, a few aisles of beauty, an aisle of drugs, a pharmacy, and a whole bunch of impulse buys and "What the heck are they doing carrying THIS crap". I've only been in a couple of CVS's,...

Re: In-N-Out Burger On A Building Spree

The BIG news on the In-N-Out front is that they're building a commissary and stores in Dallas in the coming year, news which I felt came completely out of left field.

It'll be interesting to see how well they do there.

Re: Associated Posts Loss

I still don't understand Associated buying these stores in the first place. Were they afraid a new competitor would come in? To THOSE locations? Please. If Associated hadn't purchased them. chances are Supervalu would have ultimately scuttled them, leaving no hole in the marketplace whatsoever becau...

Interesting that customers can use points towards donating to a Burgerville charity. Haven't seen that before.
