Re: Save Mart equipment warehouse auction
Or perhaps just getting rid of some of the "extras" that have accumulated if they have closed stores? After all, even not totally functioning equipment might sell if it's cheap enough that someone would be willing to fix it up for a small location.

Re: Publix is speculated to enter the District of Columbia
In 5 years, I expect that the DC market will consist of the following: 1. Giant-Landover (with low-hanging stores closed) 2. Safeway (same as Giant, also depends on how Albertsons manages their marketing and pricing) 3. Harris Teeter (with increased store count) 4. Wegmans 5. Publix (will likely gr...

Re: Aldi Locations in California
If you were in the Northeastern US (OK, at least parts of NY, VT, ME, NH and some of MA) you could get one @ Hannaford for $0.66/lb
Or if it was like our local store, a spiral sliced one for $0.96/lb (since those are usually quite a bit more).

Re: ACME to close three stores
Expectedly, things are beginning to cool off at ACME after their acquisition spree involving the A&P stores. Acme Style reports of three stores that will not renew leases : 29 Cornwell Drive, Bridgeton, NJ ( map link ) - Overcrowded grocery market, with a Walmart directly to the north, ShopRite...

Re: Shareholders OK Ahold-Delhaize merger
Sounds like they're planning this all ahead of the FTC. It's possible that the FTC could say nothing required after the previous incident. Or they could be more strict in making sure that the new company can actually sustain the stores. Or they'll make sure it's a longer time before all are sold. I...

Re: Shareholders OK Ahold-Delhaize merger
So it appears that 83 Ahold-Delhaize stores are for sale. From what I gather so far: 8 Giant-Landover stores located in: Accokeek and La Plata, Md.; and in Stafford (two locations), Fredericksburg (two locations), Spotsylvania and Falmouth, Va. 3 Hudson Valley Stop & Shop stores: discussed abov...

Re: A Tale of Two H-E-B stores
The previously mentioned Bellaire HEB is actually scheduled to be torn down and replaced. The company has wanted to build a larger store in this area for years, but simply has been unable to due to a lack of available land. As a result, HEB has bought the adjacent strip center with plans to build a...

Re: Shareholders OK Ahold-Delhaize merger
Five miles apart means that it's a surefire bet that they'd keep them both, actually. Unless they're right across the street from each other (and as Publix and Albertsons/Safeway have proved, that usually isn't a problem anyway), they aren't likely to divest anything by court rules. There was an ar...

Re: Shareholders OK Ahold-Delhaize merger
The significant overlap is Hannaford / Stop and Shop in New England. Both Hannaford and Stop and Shop are relatively similar (akin to Albertsons / Safeway) in that they're mid-market, full line chains. I'd expect if any divestments occur, it will be between Hannaford and Stop and Shop stores. In re...

Re: New Board Style Options
I thought maybe someone was decorating for St. Patrick's Day (since, at least on the main forum page it looks to be green and a shade of orange to show those forums with new posts)
